It was okay, not too busy, the bathrooms were clean and it's pretty open area campsites. The lake isn't swimable but you can take out a paddle or a boat I guess. There is another lake like 10 mins away.

What a great find! The sites are nicely laid out with lots of room between each. And, if you wish to dry camp, there are well positioned sites all around the lake. Off the beaten path, but quiet and relaxing.

Nice little family campground with ample trees between most sites. Large playground, basketball hoop, badminton/volleyball net for all to use along with small lake for non-motorized boats for fishing or just enjoying water activities such as paddle-boards, canoeing, kayaking. I don’t believe you can swim in it though. Also a great place to bird or star watch. An 18 hole golf coarse is with 1 km of this facility. Some sites are full hookup, lots with power only including group areas and lots that are un-serviced. We’ll be back again

We've been camping here for a few years and we love it. The spaces are clean and we'll groomed, the care takers are friendly. There is a large open common area and playground that also well kept. You can't swim in the water so if you don't mind that it's great!

Good Campground, We had power is all what we need. it is crowded when its full. but midweek is the best time to camp here. Staff is nice until check out its like your done leave now. Lake is low but that's Alberta in 2021. Still if your going to Golf at Cold Creek this is the place to stay. The cold creek camp area is a field.

CLOSED!?! Drove an hour to get to Black Nugget today for kayaking. The Beaver County webpage for the lake says nothing about the place being closed. Not just closed for camping. Not allowing anyone on the premises for

I loved our camping time at this lake. The host was our first impression. She was warm and welcoming. Very easy to talk to and really good at dealing with our gaggle of a group coming for ice cream. She let us know the low spots of our sites, so our tents wouldn't get caught in them. We were next to the boat launch so she let us know about the increased traffic helped situate so we'd have some privacy. We arrived at our sites, which were VERY open. However with the pictures online we were aware before we got there. The sites were pretty well maintained but there of course is geese so there was a fair amount of poop everywhere. I did notice the camp hosts on several occasions shooing the birds back into the water and away from unoccupied sites. The bathrooms were as clean as can be expected for an out house and there was always sanitizer and tp available. Those complaining about bugs and unswimmable lake.. it's a lake made from a coal mine.. it's Nature at it's finest. Even with the black flies, mosquitoes and geese.. there was also so many beautiful dragonflies, ducks, pelicans and other creatures. The downsides: The day use area wasn't clearly marked and people kept trying to use our sites to park their vehicles there after using the boat launch. On group even tried to picnic at the boat launch in on of our site. It could use some "No parking" signage or a sign as you come into the camping area saying "Boat Launch and Campers only, NO DAY USE" Lack of Trees. The sites we were on were VERY open and could definitely benefit from some trees being planted. The wind was strong because of the lack of trees to brake them. It wast the only section of the camp ground that really seemed to lack the trees.

Family oriented and quiet, HUGE treed lots. A small convenience store, and huge park for all ages. The only set back for us was there is limited sites with water hook up and we didn’t get one. The lake is great for fishing and for the dogs to swim. We had a chance to golf at Coal Creek GC and the greens were in great shape and only 5 minutes away! We definitely will return.
