We've been to other marriage retreats before, but this one was far and away the best! We also had some marriage counselling with Darren when we were struggling with some issues a few years later. He not only helped us work through those issues, but he gave us tools that we regularly use to stay on track. We have an amazing marriage, and are grateful to Best Marriages for the valuable resources they offer to couples. We wouldn't be where we are today without them - thank you!

It felt as if the counsellor took sides and often made his personal opinion of us apparent. The approach often came across as judgmental. It was a disappointing experience, and made an already rocky relationship worse. We would not return and recommend others to look elsewhere for counselling. The admin was responsive and helpful in the booking process.

Darren took the time to figure out how well we understand one another, learn each of our strengths, weaknesses & what was still GOOD about our relationship & worthy of saving. We did the 'heavy lifting' but Darren was there to support. I'm sure it was not always an easy balance, but in crisis, it was evident that Darren valued our marital relationship while he supported us as PEOPLE individually. We have since consulted on other family dynamics & always trust his insights. We have recommended Best Marriages to many other couples. The Gottman principles work.
M	Michael Zucchelli on Google ★ ★ ★ ★ ★ It's very difficult to find a good counselor!! I have to say that I am impressed with the methods, support and results of working with Darren. Through working together and educating he showed me/us how to resolve many of the everyday problems we all go through in any of our relationships. He gave me and my children the tools to deal with and process things we didn't understand and will continue to use for the rest or our lives. I'm very thankful to have met and been able to work with Darren. I have not worked with everyone there but the people I have come in contact with at BM are top notch. I hope this helps! Thank you.
H	Hunter on Google ★ ★ ★ ★ ★ I went into this with an open mind; however, it was the worst thing I could have done. Think of a boxing ring, but instead of a referee, you have the counselor. They ask you to say what you don't like about your partner, and then ask your partner the same thing. Ring the bell. Round 1. Instead of a solution at the end of the round, you are met with a "thats all the time we have for today, Im booked up for 2 weeks. Good luck". This boxing match continues until you and your partner have said every ruthless thing you could have said to one another. The only problem is...for 5 sessions of this, you are not provided any solutions, nor anything to work on. Be careful if you enter this ring. I wish i never did.

Like other reviews on this place, he puts couples into a boxing match of talking about what he don’t like about our partners (rushing it) then says “that’s all the time we have folks”. Judges the entire sessions and takes sides. Let’s one partner of the relationship do 75% of the talking happily if he likes them. Two sessions with this guy and now we are separated not looking like getting back together. The clinic does no follow up to see what’s happened. They care about dollars not families. If you want to make your marriage work with counselling, see someone else.

During this time he helped us understand our personalities, how we worked together, and why challenges came up in our marriage. Besides understanding why things happened, he gave us tools and practical things to work on. Stefan listened to both of us and helped us understand our differences and our strengths and how we could build a stronger marriage with respect and openness. He was very careful to make sure neither of us felt like we were being ganged up on. Stefan is so gifted at counselling couples! We sure noticed that nothing got by him! He quickly picked up on things and addressed them at the right time. He helped us get to the root of it all. We have passed his name on many times. Of those we know that got counselling from him, we know they really liked him. And, we have heard of how he went above and beyond to help a couple of them. What a class act! We had seen a counsellor before, and this experience wasn't great - there is no comparison between this previous experience and Stefan. We highly recommend him!

His ability to hear both sides of the situation and give positive feedback to both myself and my husband was incredible. He is kind, very personable and encouraging and he LOVES marriage counselling, he loves bringing people back together. I have lost count of how many people I have referred through to him but I think it's four couples and even a couple of singles that were dealing without fallout from their marriages. I highly recommend Stefan!
