We recently relocated to a new city and had an enormous 3 bedrooms house for 7 years. Over 147 boxes on top of bulky furniture. We are so satisfied with Bekins, 3 friendly and organized movers arrived on time and took less than 4 hours (including packing some of our bigger items: art, flat screens) The same experience was delivered at the receiving end. The team were easy to direct, and made time saving suggestions. We had an appraiser come first and to quote and plan the packing supplies. We actually used all but 3 boxes, none of our items were broken or missing. From the main office communications (Colleen) to the 4 movers we met, We highly recommend Bekins Movers, friendly, effective, affordable and they deliver quality. Very pleased, thank you to the team! Our second move with Bekins, however this one was horrible. Lot of furniture wrecked, boxes drop and crushed from bad packing. The worst of it though was the final bill, came in $3000 higher then original estimate. We understand it’s a estimate but this is a huge difference especially being we sold numerous items before the final move. Very unhappy with this last move with Bekins.

Bekins moved us last week. From the initial telephone call, the walk through quote, to the pick up and delivery of our belongings to our new home, Bekins was excellent. They gave a reasonable quote, they were professional, did exactly what the said they'd do and they were professional and polite. Those lads were on the go and worked very hard indeed. I'd recommend Bekins and use them again. Thank you!

Keith Z. and his crew were fast, efficient, friendly and careful with my mom's move from Toronto to Vancouver. Delivery is scheduled for a week from departure. Can't ask for faster service than that!

Whole move was unprofessional. Be careful about how many containers you need in the estimate We were told we could make it with one if we got rid of some stuff and used our own storage. NOT EVEN CLOSE!!! Used two thirds of another container. And an extra 4 hours of moving time. Doubled our storage feesover 7 months Deliveryafter Storage was a disaster. Our lazy boy couch had the back snapped off and all of our bookshelves had the levellingrude customer service representative. Less than helpful. legs snapped off. All of them. When the legs were broke off they came up the sides and tore out chunks of wood. All 5 bookshelves now are unusable. They attempted to put my wife’s desk together after they had taken it apart Not even close!!!!! Parts left over and more breaking and holes cut where none were before. This was commercial grade office furniture. Lots of damage done to our newly painted rooms Wall dents and scraped paint. We tried to make a claim but we were greeted by a very discourteous customer representative Rude person!!! To top things off I had left “3 “ messages for the two containers to be delivered one at a time as there was limitations on space in our strata complex. Sure enough two large containers showed up and our new neighbours were blocked in all day!! One more ditty. Found out the next day by a knock on our door from stratapresident thatthe last truck that Bekins had there hit a a private lamp standard on their way out and tried to disregard it. All and all a very bad experience. We chose Bekins because we thought they were a big “reputable “ company. Not the case. Steer clear!!!! CUSTOMER SERVICE IS TERRIBLE. PROFESSIONALISM IS EVEN WORSE

I trusted Bekins with a simple local move from a loft apartment to a townhouse. I would never use Bekins again. Here were the issues: 1) The actual costs were 60% over the estimate. 2) The crew was unprepared (no tools, didn't know the plan, showed up late without calling) and extremely slow (on phones, moving one piece at a time). 3) Multiple items (fire pit, dishes, cases) were broken during transport and Bekins simply rejected the claims after I paid the bill. 4) They fought and argued over the actual costs and ended up only taking 10% off the final bill after threatening to take me to court.

Never in a Million Years! When is a “quote” not a “quote”? I contacted Bekins Kelowna to arrange packing and shipment of my 1 bdrm appt possessions overseas. I had my belongings in a self storage unit with Kelowna Self Storage (can I say what a fabulous business they are, honest, friendly and super efficient). I am currently a full time student until starting employment in July and am on a strictly limited budget. I advised Bekins of this and they agreed when advised that I wouldn’t be in a position to pay the $10,000 overseas shipping fee for several months. Given COVID related delays, it would be some time before shipment could be arranged. Bekins contacted me in March and advised they could have my goods transferred to their warehouse in April, getting it packed ready for overseas shipping and storing it until I was ready to have it shipped. They quoted $1900 for packing and moving to their facility and provided a monthly storage “quote” that was close to what I was already paying. I agreed and paid a $500 non refundable deposit. When the storage fees came in for “bulk storage “at double the quote and double what I was paying at Kelowna Self Storage for a self contained unit, I questioned this. I received an email in a berating tone suggesting I should expect this figure “given the weight of my goods”. Who could estimate the weight of their household goods? Only someone in the moving and storage industry, and Bekins failed to do this when they provided me with the storage “quote” which was actually their minimum charge, not what it would likely cost me. With this monthly figure, I was unable to make any contribution to my outstanding account with them, this was distressing, not a comfortable situation to be in. I contacted them and as they were not negotiable on the monthly storage fee, I asked for a quote to have my goods moved back to self storage until I was able to finalise overseas shipping. They quoted $900 to have my fully packed and securely wrapped (I am assuming) goods moved 5kms from their facility to Kelowna Self Storage. I am not in a position to pay this fee until I start work in July, so agreed to pay their bulk storage monthly fee until the end of July, when I intended moving my goods back to more reasonable self storage and make payments against my outstanding account with Bekins for packing and shipping my goods overseas. I then got a demand from Bekins Kelowna to pay my entire outstanding account within 3 weeks or my goods would be publicly auctioned under the Warehouseman’s Act. They had added an additional $400 charge for “warehouse handling” – without any explanation – I can only assume there is an extra charge for their staff to move your goods off the truck and into the warehouse. They billed me for the next months bulk storage in advance, while advising my goods would be auctioned in the middle of the month. I contacted the Better Business Bureau, and their only service to me was to forward aggressively worded emails from the Bekins Kelowna General Manager, Dawn. I regret not taking the time to read the previous BBB negative reviews, specifically mentioning this person who I had the misfortune to be dealing with. I contacted Bekins Canada and they quickly distanced themselves, claiming no responsibility for the actions of their franchisees, and went so far as to request I remove my complaint from their website. I contacted Consumer Affairs but their jurisdiction does not cover the moving and storage industry. So I am sadder, much wiser, and much lighter in worldly goods, including many precious and to me, priceless possessions collected over the past 30+ years. I never in a million years imagined losing everything I own to a business so lacking in brains, heart and backbone. So would I recommend Bekins for your moving and storage needs? Never in a million years!

We used Bekins in March to move our stuff and store it for 10 months until our new home was ready. At the time we didn’t pay for the extra insurance (because who adds extra insurance when you pay for a “professional” moving company). Fast forward to Dec 18 when we moved to our new place. Right off the bat as the movers are positioning their truck in my driveway, the doors of the truck swing open and I could see my stuff had not been packed properly in the truck. As the movers take things out they see broken mirrors and other damaged items. They kept saying that the previous movers had done a horrible job loading the truck. When everything was unloaded we had 3 broken mirrors, several broken storage containers, and a broken vase. When I made my cloak with the claims department they came back and said I would be getting back $200 for items that were worth up to $2000 (I still have receipts for most of them). The claims person said because I didn’t purchase the insurance I could not get reimbursed for what the items were worth. I am so frustrated. They basically told me they won’t change their position and I’m SOL. Do not use this company because their customer service is horrible.
