I want to thank Nurse Marion for taking such good care of my mom Stella Arcand. Marion spent many hours at my parents house and helped with things that my Dad and I could never have done. Marion helped get my mom at the Maison McCulloch Hospice. Sadly mom passed away on January 8 2018. Thank you for all you have done Marion. I hope I spelt your name right. Ida.

I have a chronic illness and require an IV every week. This has been done by Bayshore Nurses for years. Although I have had a couple experiences witha couple of nurses that left me frustrated and frazzled, I am now looked after by one nurse only, James, and he is not only a highly skilled nurse, he is extremely compassionate and understanding. Unless a client has had every single nurse staffed at Bayshore, you cannot claim they are all incompetent and negligent because of the actions of a few. If you get assigned a nurse at Bayshore and you don't get along or see eye to eye, ask for another nurse to be sent out until you find the right one for you. If you have issues, talk to someone at CCAC, the community care centre that probably arranged for Bayshore to visit your home. We are privileged in this country to have nurses, sppech pathologists, occupational therapists, dieticians, etc, come to visit us in our own homes to try to help us with our conditions or illnesses for absolutely nothing out of our pocket and the care I've received is nothing short of wonderful. Seeing a post from someone who decided to stay in a cycle of complaining and calling the whole of Bayshore "negligent" really irks me because it is not entirely like that at all and what would we be left with without this service? Some people need to stop acting like they are so entitled, get a situation rectified the proper way and be thankful that their loved one even has FREE access to a service that would either otherwise have to be done in a hospital (how inlikely and untimely would that option be?), by a private nurse or not at all. These people should be paying out of their OWN pocket for exactly who they want, exactly when they want it and exactly how they want it and leave the free services to others who are more appreciative and can fix an issue like an adult and a whole lot easier and sooner than they did. I know I count my blessings every day and especially everytime James arrives. Someone else there could be your "James" too.

These people are incompetent, negligent and useless. They miss visits, and don't bother to call or to make alternate arrangements, which puts seriously ill clients at risk. The people in the office do not communicate information, or do what they say they're going to do (ie. PSWs were sent to my grandmother's place without being told what to do, or even how to get into the house; it also took two months for Bayshore to change the contact number they had on file so that they were calling my mother instead of my 94 year old, Italian-speaking grandmother). Most recently, we needed a nurse to put an IV in, because my grandmother had blood poisoning. We were told no nurses were available (not even the single on-call nurse, who was out of town and, therefore, not on-call) and they didn't know when they'd find one for us. My mother has been doing their job for them, by informing PSWs of their duties (because Bayshore can't be trusted), calling my grandmother every morning to make sure someone has come to take care of her (again, because Bayshore can't be trusted) and picking up the slack when nobody shows up. This organization is going to kill someone. I hope it's nobody you know.

Extremely incompetent, though our regular nurses seem to care, be trained and on time. The incompetence is not only in the field but with the staff when you call for assistance. If they say to give them 10 minutes and they will call you back, trust me, they will not answer you call when you try again after an hour has past. Then get someone else to call 4 hours later.

I'll preface this with that I'm very happy with the two regular support workers we have, though that is mainly on them being amazing and caring people, and not their association with Bayshore. Communication is basically non-existant. For every outgoing call you make, you might hear back 50% of the time. It took almost 2 months and multiple calls for our primary contact number to be changed. This caused missed appointments due to the support workers calling an unused line. There are no standards, no routines and zero expectations. Each new support worker needs to be walked through what to do as Bayshore provides almost no information on the patients condition. Every time without fail, I have to explain to them that my mother can't see and has limited motor skills. I can only imagine what some families who aren't around during care hours have dealt with. It's mind blowing and defeats the entire purpose of respite care. To them its just filling a calendar with blocks, but to us it's playing with the lives of our loved ones. Utter incompetence from the admin staff and I hope Bayshore seriously considers reform in their operations, top to bottom.
