The process of healing from abuse or trauma, is just that, a process. One which involves a few key steps regardless of the nature or background of the trauma event or the people involved. Therefore the trauma recovery retreats will involve establishing the basics, or foundation, on which trauma recovery will be built.
These basics include an intake interview, sleep hygiene, information about trauma and brain function, body awareness, emotional intelligence, self-soothing, just to name a few. A solid foundation needs to be in place in order to delve into the depths safely. Trauma recovery need not be traumatizing!
