Started in Fernie BC in 2001 by owner and mechanic Al Komarevich who wanted to do repairs on domestic and imported automobiles on a small scale. Now in 2014 Backyard Mechanical is a full blown commercial and auto repair shop, and a designated inspection facility. Now staffed with four mechanics we can do it all from domestic to import vehicles to commercial truck and equipment repair, if it swings, crawls on tracks, or rolls on rubber we can repair it! We also have a mobile service truck equipped to go anywhere you might need a repair.

I stopped by Backyard Mechanical and the owner was nice enough to go out of his way to help us out. He was able to get the truck fixed in a couple hours and the bill was extremely fair. I would HIGHLY recommend this shop for any of your diesel needs or anything for that matter. These guys are absolutely fantastic. I will definitely be going back.

They didn't even want to charge us anything. Would definitely recommend. Give them a good tip, good businesses run by good people like these deserve them!

Took a vehicle here to get a check over told them what I was looking for and was told what I should do not what I asked for. Got a visual out of province inspection before bringing to alberta They told me that the vehicle had some issues and they listed them they were all done by visuals not mechanical brought the vehicle to alberta to find out the problems that were major were not even addressed like the fact that the park brake cables were worn right through and they told me the tie rods were bad which was not the case the rack was leaking. They also missed a major of steering components missing off vehicle. Poor quality workmanship and stands up to there name backyard mechanics. Save yourself the hassle and take it to someone who cares about keeping people safe and not just another dollar in there account
