1 The Esplanade is an embarrassment to Toronto living. Do yourself a favour and don't waste your money on this disgrace of an apartment building.

No hot water early in the morning and mgmt is not going to fix it. Also AC keeps malfunctioning.

If it was possible to give an apartment 0 stars, this one deserves it. Any amenities you see online are not functional, so don’t don’t get too excited about the β€œterrace” or β€œparty room”. They are not open. Management makes zero effort to open them. It’s mid June and the contractor has no deadline to finish the terrace, so much for enjoying the awesome 70 foot lap pool in the summer. If you’re going to pay the massive premium to live downtown, spend it on a building who’s managers actually care about their tenants and make an effort to accommodate their needs. You will regret signing a lease here. PS. Hope you’re ok with getting stuck in elevators periodically. It happens all the time here and employees at the front desk will just laugh at you when you’re out. Super classy.

Location Location Location Convenience Convenience Convenience Soon to connected to union and PATH via 3rd floor sky bridge All amenities are modern and well maintained in this recently built building. I have lived in the city and nothing more convenient if you work in downtown specially in financial district.

Great location, quiet and rather smaller sized building, nice neighbours. The units' build quality and functionality is better than most condos. I only wish we had better and more professional management, but nothing else to complain about during the 1 year I lived here so far!

I've lived at 1 Esplanade for less than a year. It is the worst, most mismanaged building I have ever lived in. There has not been hot water for nearly 4 months now. Garbage compactor is constantly down. The building's ventilation is very poor and clearly non-functional. There are weeks at a time where garbage smell permeates the lobby and upper floor hallways. The building management and board are clearly too cheap to fix the problems (which would likely increase the condo fee) and/or simply do not care and/or are completely incompetent. I strongly advise NOT renting in this building. If possible I would give a lower than 1 star rating. UPDATE: It's now been over 5 months...no hot water still! (2022-03-01)

I viewed two units in this building over the weekend. I was interested in putting in an application for one of the units as I thought the building initially looked nice and the location was great. My agent called the property manager to clear up some questions about the building (because the listing agent was clueless and had no information on the building or even the unit) and they were incredibly rude to my agent. The lady refused to answer any of our basic questions (parking availability, pets, etc) and was upset and wondering why my agent was asking these questions at all. I'm not sure how you can be upset about answering basic questions for a potential new tenant?? She even hung up the phone in the middle of the conversation. Later in the day she began emailing my agent multiple times (three as of writing this review) again questioning why she was being asked these questions and her most recent email said she would not speak to an agent and only the tenant. As if I would want to speak to her after the way she treated my agent. If that was the case from the start she could have politely informed my agent and I would have called no problem but she dragged it out into a weirdly dramatic experience for the both of us. Any desire to live here has completely gone out the window and I would recommend based on other reviews as well as my own experience to stay far away from this place.
