Great little shop. Lots of neat kitchen gadgets. Found a new cabbage slicer. Friendly owner had a great time looking at the shop

Don’t waste your time going here. The owner is not practicing English he’s just straight up lazy and doesn’t care about customer service. I almost got into a heated argument. I ask him about certain supplies he just sits at the front and does nothing and say no. He told me he didn’t have it, but then I find it and say this is what I asked for, why did you tell me you didn’t have it. He ignores me and then walks away around the store. Then when I wanted to pay he purposely walks and stand around a corner and does nothing for 5 minutes and I had to raise my voice a little saying can I pay. The store had no one as well and they were not busy. With the way he treats people I’m not surprise. As I was leaving he said mumbles something in Chinese so I didn’t understand and most likely he was swearing at me. I told him if you don’t have the courage to say what you need to my face, don’t mumble things behind someone’s back, because life is a boomerang you’ll get farther in life if you knew how treat people better. I told him I’ve been nothing but respectful when I stepped in until he started to agitate me. I try to support local business but I hate writing negative reviews for business but honestly I’m disgusted in the way he treats you here. Just save your money and shop elsewhere. How this place is still open blows my mind with the way he treats customers.

They have a great selection of Asian restaurant supplies. Friendly clerk and service. Would recommend to anyone looking for Asian kitchen supplies in Calgary.

In response to my boyfriend reply earlier, T* I was waiting outside for my boyfriend outside and didn’t feel safe inside cause the owner wasn’t even wearing a mask. We are surprise how fast you are with the reply. With our current negative review but in all honesty, the public deserves to know that if he really was trying to respect covid regulations. He would’ve worned a mask.

Just moved into the neighborhood and needed to pickup some baking equipment. Nice store. Tidy and lots of selection. Better then having to go all the way to Michael’s. Thanks!

Really satisfied with my experience here. Owner followed Covid regulations - wearing protective face shield. Had all the necessary cooking supplies I was looking for. The price is very reasonable and was satisfied with my experience overall. Will definitely come back!

This is one of the best places to buy kitchen wares in Calgary! I prefer it to Russell Hendrix or Wholesale Club because it has better selection for equipment for East Asian cuisine and better prices for lots of small wares. (And don't get me started on the vicissitudes of buying kitchen wares on Amazon!) The value-for-dollar on much of what they sell is great, but you have to know what you're looking for. (I don't think should be a problem, given how much high quality information there is on the internet, if you know where to look). I bought two of my favourite knives from here: 1) A standard 8" chef's knife with French-style blade (but no bolster!) that I reach for more often than my mid-end Henckels. I think I paid about $25-$30 for this about a decade ago. 2) A 6" utility knife by Kiwi Brand (which as a cult following on the internet). This knife is shaped like a santoku but functions more like a nikiri because it's so thin. It's amazing for processing light vegetables, herbs, and aromatics/alliums, and cheese knife. I think I paid around $10 for it. I've only bought small-ticket items (knives, cooking tools, prep containers, etc.) from them, but they have a good selection of cookware, serving ware, etc. If I were in the market for a carbon steel wok, this is probably the first place I'd look. The last thig I'll say is with regards to the "poor customer service" that other folks seem to have experienced. I think some of this comes down to language and cultural differences/expectations. But, some of this is also about shopping at a store that mostly sells to a professional crowd (i.e. restaurant owners/operators/staff) that knows what they're looking for. When I've asked for help at Russell Hendrix, I haven't gotten great service either, nor would I expect it, since their staff are busy helping people buying $4000 buffet stations, not $40 cutting boards. And you're definitely not going to get good service at Wholesale Club either, so I think this is just part of the trade-off of not paying ridiculous prices on kitchen equipment.
