I would not recommend using services through the ministry unless absolutely necessary. The ministry in BC rates themselves low on their service in social work and the same should be said for vernons CYMH services. The wait lists are long and they seem quick to say nothing is wrong as far as mental health goes even with just one meeting. We waited for a year, had one meeting and were overlooked for months, then contacted about closing the file because trauma therapy was involved even though those are 2 different services and not even provided through the same people. A whole system overhaul needs to be done in BC. Children need to be protected better than they are. Something needs to change.
