Aughdem Recruitment is looking for a talented Human Resources Director to join our client, a leader in the hotel and hospitality industry with a presence throughout Metro-Vancouver. The ideal candidate for this role has 4+ years in a senior management position and a degree in Human Resources, Business Administration or another related field from an accredited university. Additionally, the ideal candidate is a go-getter with a great attitude and excellent people skills. Experience in the hotel/hospitality sector is also an asset for this role.

Compensation: 

$100,000.00/year + bonus + full health benefits + RRSP contribution

Job Description:

• Responsible for driving the employee recruitment process while working collaboratively with the Director of Operations and General Manager on recruitment strategies, retention and succession planning.
• Analyze open positions to balance the development of existing talent and business needs.
• Serve as a coach and expert facilitator in the employee selection process for all departments.
• Remain current and knowledgeable in the internal and external compensation and work competitive environments.
• Assists with creation of and implementation of contract employment offers.
• Establish and maintain contact with external recruitment sources Networks with local organizations to source candidates for current or future openings.
• Responsible to lead by example in modeling hotel culture and supporting all departments in staff satisfaction.
• Implement and sustain Human Resources initiatives at the property.
• Support a departmental orientation program for associates to receive the appropriate new hire training to successfully perform their job.
• Participates in succession planning of front line workforce.
• Continually reinforces positive employee relations concepts.
• Lead and manage all grievances, performance management, terminations, in concert with the Department Heads.
• Manages relationship and communication with Union.
• Serves as resource to Department Heads and the Human Resources staff on employee relations, questions and issues.
• Knowledgeable in all benefits, obligations and expectations of the Collective Bargaining Agreement.
• Participate but not lead in labour negotiations.
• Translate business priorities into property Human Resources strategies, plans and actions
• Create value through proactive approaches that will affect performance outcome or control cost.
• An active member of the hotel senior leadership team and drive key HR priorities in focus.
• Identify opportunities in work processes and staffing optimization.
• Manage Workers Compensation claims to ensure appropriate associate care and manage costs.
• Represents Human Resources at the property Safety Committee.
• Identifying and understanding issues, problems, and opportunities.

 Qualifications:

• Bachelor of Arts degree in Human Resources, Business Administration or relevant field.
• CHRP designation is an asset.
• 4 years’ experience in similar roles.
• Excellent oral and written communication skills.
• Ability to lead and develop Human Resources staff members.
• Experience in the administration of benefits and compensation programs and other Human Resources programs.
