Jim has been in the auction and liquidation business since 1990. Jim started his auction career in the Edmonton area and relocated to Calgary in 1997. Jim has conducted well over 2500 auctions and has years of experience in evaluations and business liquidation. Jim's Knowledge of business closures, bankruptcy and asset appraisals is a valued asset to AD Auction Depot Inc. Jim is a member of the Association of Fundraising Professionals and Alberta Auctioneers Association. Jim devotes much of his spare time assisting various groups with fundraising campaigns. Prior to 1990, Jim was a Peace Officer for the province of Alberta working as a fish & wildlife officer as well as a motor transport officer.

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ Shadiest auction in calgary. Have been coming here for years but since covid happened they showed their real colours. Won’t allow people to visit the shop to look at products so when I called to inquire about a dryer they straight up lied when I asked for as much info as possible. Said they couldn’t test it because they don’t have a 220V plug at their commercial warehouse which I know is a blatant lie as I’m an electrician. Anyways I purchased the dryer and of course it produced no heat. They clearly didn’t want to disclose it. At graham auction on Saturday’s they atleast are honest and test their stuff and give you an honest answer in the listing if it’s running, or if there is an issue they tell you what it is. Save your money for Saturday auctions, these guys have went downhill fast!

I've had some amazing deals and some really huge let downs. So if you like to take risks then you can do well here.
The owners are quite unfriendly but are OK.
Not my favorite place to do business, although I have never had any issues here other than buying too many flops.

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ When I place an absentee bid the auctioneer on auction day gets to my bid at warped speed rather then allow the bids to come in. Anything I have bought with an absentee bid is at the absentee price. Several items I bid on I was informed that I was outbid on them however the reality was they didn't get the price they wanted so passed to bring the item up in the next auction. Originally I thought that because there were other items the same they were being fair to the highest bidder, however there were several instances where same items sold at different prices.

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ Auction Depot is the best Auction house in Calgary. I have been a customer since 2007 (for 14 years) and found Jim and Cory and the staff to be honest, conscientious and hard working. They do their best to get to know their customers and have a good rapport with each person. They also provide great customer service and make sure the customer is satisfied. As with any auction, the buyer needs to be aware of what he or she is purchasing. Jim, Cory, and the staff do their best to accurately present the merchandise.

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ Have you seen the lumber auction? I used to really like this auction house but over the last little while the way they divide their lots (purely extra profit driven and not customer friendly) is maddening. Have you no respect for your customers anymore or are you just counting on people who will bid on anything out of need or boredom. Maybe you should be boycotted for a few weeks to learn that customers are what support your business again. I know I will probably lose my bidding privileges over this but I am ok with not being part of what you are doing to customers now.
