★ ★ ★ ★ ★ Asteras remains a staple of Nanaimo dining. They serve great food and have genuinely good service. As it’s set in a former house with a heritage feel, it’s like being a guest. Make reservations or eat mid week for a quieter experience.

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ Beautiful heritage house in old city quarter. Warm and cozy atmosphere and what made the dinner most beautiful was the lovely young lady who took such good care of me during my meal. Dinner was good but service was exceptional. Thank you for the raspberry ouzo’s and a wonderful experience. To the lady out front who spoke while we were outside, thank you. To dine alone is not the easiest but you all made it very special ?

The food - exquisite.

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ We were immediately greeted and seated in the very comfy and relaxing room. We ordered the specials a stuffed chicken breast and seafood linguine. A beer and glass of wine to go with. Very delicious. Our server Emily was attentive and humorous and very adept at knowing the menu. Will return to smash more special plates with gusto!

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ Quaint, lovely property. The food was excellent and served by professional, yet family-like staff. Our appetizer was the amazing olive pate - smooth and so savoury. My shrimp and scallops (one of tonight’s specials) were perfectly done and nicely seasoned. My friend enjoyed her chicken. The plates are loaded with salad, potatoes, vegetables and rice. Thanks Emily for your fabulous, energetic service!

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ Thoughtful owners, excellent food and ambiance. Felt very home-like. My partner wasn't able to finish his food and the owner (and chef) personally came to our table to ask about our experience. Such a wonderful gesture. Would definitely visit again.

They had a meat trio as a special. half baby back ribs, some garlic shrimp and a chicken with some potatoes, veggies and their included sides. The location is very cozy. As it was once a house, it has very warm and welcoming vibes.
Highly recommended!!
