★ ★ ★ ★ ★ After 3 decades plus of nursing in BC[neurosurg, geriatric, peds, palliative + homecare], I am full of relief to be clear of this organization who provides little -- but collects huge fees! I have watched nurses struggle with situations that once would have been strongly supported. I was so fortunate. I really enjoyed my nursing career. I felt I made a difference. I was proud of my whole profession and was willing to endure the odd hours, the violence[most nurses get punched eventually], the intense learning on the spot, the times when chaos happened and the team worked together -- it was a special time in medicine with advances being made but ALSO plenty of caring nurses who were protected and respected in the field. Now though, I see the massive patient loads, the extended shifts, the lack of support and true lack of respect and I breathe sighs of relief that a 'gym fall' forced me to retire earlier than I had planned. The fees this year are completely obscene and unexplained...there is NO extra support, no PPE provision, no improved staffing, no perks....no reason for the fees. I shake my head and whisper a thanks to my retirement. So sad....I really loved nursing. If Google would allow, it might be a 'zero' grading...really sad. We used to have incredible support :(
