Area 51

Bought some shoes online as they were the only online store in Canada to offer a decent selection. They literally shipped them the next day via expedited parcel through Canada Post and got them 4 days later (2 business days). Packaged incredibly well too, overall great experience and will order from them again.

I appreciate the staff here at A51, and the fact that they regularly carry large size-14 footwear means a lot. It's not easy having big feet. So this is just a dig at one of their suppliers, Volcom. I bought these black size-14 flip-flops in Aug 2021 and by the end of September they were falling apart. Disintegrating, week by week! It's crazy cause I'd bought grey Volcom flip-flops three years before, and they were actually in better condition than the new black ones after two months of wear. This is a quality control issue at Volcom. Anyhoo, thanks for carrying large sizes, A51 !! I'm live on the east coast, so I couldn't drop by in person to say hi and try to work something out.

THANK YOU SO MUCH! I decided to get my first skateboard to kill the corona boredom, and after tons of research, ran across this Canadian shop. I placed my order online and they shipped it out the same day, which is pretty much unheard of! They even emailed me right after I placed my order and offered to assemble my board free of charge :) Got it today and it was packed very carefully and came with stickers and a poster. Board looks very well assembled and the griptape is applied perfectly. 11/10 experience!

#supportyourlocalskateshop ! Area 51 has a great selection, and even during Covid Times, their supply of actual skateboard hard parts (tried to find Indy 169's lately? Have fun...) is second to none! Friendly staff, great spot! Highly recommended ?

Went to 3 other plcs looking for sunglasses of a particular style with blue chrome lenses that were large enough for my head amd area 51 was the only plc that had them and at a fair price, shoe prices are fair and they have a decent collection, staff went far and beyond to help me find shoes (im very picky) thanks guys!!

Afrer 20 years of shopping at Area 51, I can say that they are hands down the best selection skateshop I've been to. I wont shop anywhere else for skate gear and I moved a province over. If any shop deserves praise, area 51 is the MVP in the skate shop business.

I look after my brother because he suffered a serious brain injury that left him severely impaired. The other day he decided that he wanted to buy himself a watch so we went to Area 51 as we make it a priority to support local businesses. I let him go in by himself because I encourage him to be as independent as possible. He was in there for about half an hour before he came out with a new watch that he really liked... unfortunately it was waaayyy over budget, he is on disability and is on a fixed income. After a couple days he realized that he shouldn't have spent that much and decided he should return it, he had worn it around the house for like half a day. When he tried to return it they told him that it was scratched so it could not be returned, I looked at it closely and did not see any scratches, maybe they had a magnifying glass, I'm not sure, it looked brand new to me, there was a slight wrinkle in part of the packaging but that's all I could notice. I then spoke to the girl who was in charge and she told me that they don't do returns at all and it is their regular policy. On their website it says they do have a return policy but she wouldn't budge. I then left a message for the owner to phone me to discuss their return policy but he has not followed up. It's very disappointing because any larger store would have refunded it without question, it was within a couple days and he had the receipt. I offered to accept a restocking fee to compensate for the invisible scratch but that was not acceptable to them. My brother didn't want to make a fuss and he might continue to shop there, he'll have to get someone else to drive him though, I will not support them anymore.

Really cool store with a lot of great items reasonably priced! I do, however, wish they would figure out their flow in there. The shirts are hard to look at, and you feel squished half the time (especially if there are lots of people in the store) the clothes are all over the place instead of in organized isles... The change room was surprisingly awkward and made me feel vulnerable the whole time (not great for people with anxiety) If they just spent a little time figuring those simple things out I would shop here all the time. Staff were friendly and helpful, but you have to go find them if you need assistance. I wasn't approached once with my 25mins in the store. Not a huge issue for me, but for some people needing assistance it might be challenging. Also, not accessible for individuals with physical disabilities. If you're in a wheelchair you'll be using their online store and store front pick-up, no shopping for you.
