★ ★ ★ ★ ★ We are currently building our second design of Rocco's. Both of our experiences (one small addition of a deck and stairs and the current rear addition/garage conversion) were so positive, I want everyone who wants to renovate to use him. He is so knowledgable, he thought of things I hadn't and when we called a large contract/design service for a second opinion they didn't even know half the things Rocco did....so beware those big design firms!! I recommend Architalcan Design for any of your renovation drawings for permit and even for layout and design. It will be a prompt, informed and super positive experience!

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ I first had dealings with Rocco from Architalcan Design 2010 for a house I had purchased and was renovating in downtown Toronto.
After the initial call we met up at the house and discussed the kind of renovation I had in mind and then Rocco took measurements of the house.
Within the next couple of days Rocco emailed me some draft drawings of for house.
I discussed with Rocco some changes I wanted and practically in no time he sent me revised drawings and then he proceeded to finalize the plans to submit to the City.
Withing a day or 2 from submission to the city my permit was ready.
In late 2019, I purchased another property and called Rocco again.
He remembered me as of it was just yesterday that we had spoken last.
Again we met at the property and within a few days the drawings were ready and within a another couple of days my permit was ready.
In the 2 projects I worked with Rocco, I was very satisfied for his good ideas , his efficiency and reasonable fee. I would highly recommend Rocco for any projects requiring architectural services.

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ Rocco was able to start the job within a week of initial contact with him. His team removed three load bearing walls within a day and a half, with drawings completed and permits applied for. Rocco has the experience and the staff to get the job done! The drywall company was impressed when they came as the walls were taken down with minimal damage to the adjacent walls and ceiling making their job easier. I don't hesitate to recommend Architalcan Design Inc. They were a pleasure to deal with and Rocco is excellent at communicating next steps in a very timely manner.

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ Beyond Impressed!!!! I have heard many a frustrating home renovation story from friends and neighbours. With Rocco - there's no trouble or angst. He prepared all structural, underpinning and design drawings for my basement reno and took care of all the city applications and permits. The entire process was complete within 3 weeks of engaging Architalcan. He understands your needs and is quick, professional and responsive. I cannot say enough amazing things about Rocco. He is a pleasure to work with and gets the job done!

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ Rocco was very quick and thorough is providing us with the drawings for our renovation. Even when abroad, he responded quickly to answer any questions we might have. This is our second time using Rocco and we have recommended him to family and friends who have used him for their renovations with success. Rocco always thinks things thru and provides more than one option so that we might make the best decision for us.

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ I hired Rocco at Architalcan Design based on his google reviews to do a drawings for me over 1 year ago. All positive reviews seem to be fake. Anytime he gets a bad review he creates a new google account. If you look, you will see he has over 4 different Architalcan Design companies on Google Maps.
When my contractor started construction, he ran into on site problems because of mistakes on the drawings he did for me.
The contractor and then myself tried to reach out to him over 20 times combined. When we finally did get him to answer our calls and told him of the mistake on his drawings. He gave me an outrageous price to make the correction. He did this knowing I was stuck and couldn't use anyone else because he had all my home measurements.
When I questioned him why he was charging me in the first place and why his quote was so high, he lost his patience, began to yell and threatened me.
He said and I quote "I know you have no where else to go and I'm the only one that can make these corrections quickly. The price is the price, deal with it."
Stay away from Rocco and Architalcan Design. He will provide a cheap price for drawings to start but any changes once construction begins, he will take advantage of your situation.
Very unprofessional and that is his business plan!

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ My partner and I hired Architalcan Design for a massive redesign of our property, including retail and residential units, a main floor and 3rd story addition as well as a basement extension. Rocco and his draftsperson took care to understand our vision and our needs, and to balance this with the City by-laws and history of the building. Rocco resolved issues and responded whenever we reached out, whether he was in Canada or Italy, to ensure the plan was properly executed. When we were faced with challenges by the City, Rocco advocated for our project and worked with the City to get the permits through the entire process. When we were faced with challenges during the basement excavation with our initial contractor, Rocco came to our rescue to recommending first rate builders from his rich source of professional acquaintances to get the job done and done well by the best. The best part of all, is that Rocco made sure that we could stick to our vision even when times were tough throughout the project, that is the true art of being an architect.
