An absolutely amazing animal shelter that puts the time and dedication to finding the perfect forever homes for their animals while making sure its a right fit for the people. They really do care about the animals health and well being and will go out of their way to ensure their adoptable animals are safe and happy. I have heard so many good things about this shelter and now I can vouch for how wonderful and hardworking this shelter is! I recommend this shelter for anyone looking for a cat or dog to add to their family.

I had a very bad experience with ARF. I went through the fostering process and got my first foster cat a week ago. They did not tell me he was unneutered beforehand and I was given very little info over all. I find it very irresponsible of a rescue organization to be giving out cats that are unneutered and unspayed as they could get out and breed. I grew very fond of my foster cat but he started spraying EVERYWHERE the second day I had him. I understand this is normal for unneutered males but I had more than two weeks before the vet appointment for his neutering and was spending hours everyday cleaning my carpets. I let ARF know and they suggested keeping him in a 1/2 bathroom until he could get neutered. This upset me further as I do not have the heart to lock a cat up in a bathroom whenever I'm not home and during the night. I found the very suggestion inhumane and cold. I told them I would be bringing the cat back to the rescue (which hurt my heart as I had grown to love him) because I could not sustain cleaning carpets every day and night. I will not be fostering with them again.

The staff and foster volunteers are absolutely amazing! We inquired about a cat and received very detailed emails from both the shelter and foster parent sharing her history, personality, food preferences, etc. It was amazing to see the amount of care they put into their adoptions! We've adopted several animals in the past and know how busy the shelter can get and how hard the volunteers work, to see this level of care was incredible.

We have adopted two puppies and one kitten through Arf and have had fantastic experiences! The foster families do such a wonderful job and we wouldn't hesitate to recommend them to others looking for a new fur baby.

Although we didn't end up getting a cat from ARF I would like to review how absolutely amazing their staff and foster volunteers are. We inquired about a cat and what we received back as a response showed how much these individuals truly care about these animals. The response came from both the shelter and the foster parent describing in great detail the personality and actions of the cat. In all my dealings with the other available shelters I have never received such a detailed response. I truly felt like I knew the cat before we even would have taken the chance to meet her

I have volunteered and fostered with ARF for a little over two years now and can’t speak highly enough of them! They clearly care about their animals and always take the time to provide resources for volunteers and find great homes for their animals. The foster coordinators go above and beyond to provide help and guidance, and always make sure each home has the equipment and support they need to care for each animal. I would highly recommend adopting, fostering, or volunteering with ARF!

I moved to Calgary last year and was desperately wanting to get involved in rescue. After doing my research and talking to friends who foster I decided Arf was the best fit for me. I became a cat foster in August and it has been a wonderful experience. Rachel is always attentive and helpful when I have a concern or question ( no matter how silly I am being ) . I was given every supply you could ever need and I can always pick up more if I need it. I went out of town and Rachel arranged for my kittens to stay with another foster without any hesitation so I didn’t have to worry while I was away. I love that I have been able to be heavily involved in the adoption process and have built lasting relationships with the kittens new families. I highly recommend hopeful fosters and adopters check out Arf! I can’t wait to get more involved in the future and foster dogs once I have a fenced in yard !

We had a great experience with the Animal Rescue Foundation (ARF) with the recent adoption of a senior cat. The communication with both the Adoption Coordinator and Foster was fast and attentive, and the overall adoption process was quick. The we got to meet the cat with the Foster Parent at the facility in a nice room for about 1 hour, which was wonderful. The paperwork was all able to be handled electronically, which made it simple. They offer 6 weeks of complimentary pet insurance through Pet Secure, which was a nice touch. We would highly recommend ARF.
