She is allowed to have family over for meals in the dining room and the food is always delicious and the staff friendly. When a loved one is no longer able to fully care for themselves, it can be difficult to make the decision to find a facility for them, but Amica at Douglas makes it a little easier with their friendly staff and clean environment, as well as options for varying levels of care.

From the supportive and hard working team, to unique and beautiful residents, my time at Amica was a lesson in life and the truth that it will always change, always evolve, and always bring new hope if you let it. Working with our elders was one of the best experiences of my young career thus far. Starting at Douglas House during the first throws of the COVID-19 Pandemic, I can to know them during a unique, scary, and somewhat lonely time in all of our lives. It was my job to keep the ship running. To answer questions, connect distant family, lend a smile, and keep us safe. A complex role to say the least, but doable because of the help and kindness I received from Amica's wonderful residents. The team at Amica Douglas House did the undoable, they kept Amica a COVID-19 free zone from the start of the pandemic to its current state. This was only possible because of the tireless work put in by each and every department. As one small part of this strong team I count myself lucky to have had such helpful, resilient, knowledgeable, and encouraging teammates. I was proud to work at Amica Douglas House and will take lessons learned there with me through the rest of personal and professional life.

I sometimes chat with residents who are out walking, and they always seem happy and have great things to say about Douglas House. When the time comes, I will definitely recommend this place to my parents.

From the management to nurses, reception, housekeeping and the cooks, the level of care and attention to the residents was very touching. Each interaction with a resident was seen as an opportunity to contribute to their day and that was never taken lightly. I enjoyed my time working at Amica very much and have recommended the job to friends.

My experience working at Douglas House was nothing short of amazing! The residents were kind and welcoming, the other staff were lovely and helpful, and the overall environment was extremely welcoming and supportive. Although working in a long-term care facility during a pandemic was a huge adjustment, Douglas House ensured that I felt safe at all times and really encouraged me to be the best team member I could be! I am very grateful for my experiences here!

She feels very well cared for and enjoys the atmosphere, the staff and fellow residents, and the quality of the meals. I find the staff particularly caring and dedicated. The management and staff are very professional and proactive in their communications with family. They are also accommodating with and attentive to the needs of my mother and her representatives. They have been particularly superior during this time, finding a careful balance of safety precautions and creative ways to keep residents connected with their family members. I would not hesitate to recommend the residence to others or to contemplate it for myself.

After two years it was time to move onto something new but Douglas house will always be a great memory! I will miss all of our friendly residents and staff and always hold them close in my heart!
