★ ★ ★ ★ ★ Ambrose is a lovely grocery store with a wide variety of items in stock; fresh produce, refrigerated and freezer goods, junk food, cooking and baking ingredients like flour, cleaning supplies, and some other general non-food items. The store's bakery is very good, especially the homemade bread, and there's a liquor store section with a surprising range of options. The prices in the store are higher than city grocery stores, but that's understandable for a remote grocery store. It's a good store for some quick items and some treats. The staff is welcoming and they will go the extra mile if you need some help.
I went there after COVID-19 had shut down many places and lots of their items were out of stock, but the staff still offered to look in the back, informed us about future shipments and what items would be scarce (anywhere), gave helpful tips on how to substitute food items, and we were able to order some bakery bread (we were still there when the batch finished, so they didn't have to call us to come pick it up).

They have almost anything you can think of that you might need including: bread products, milk products, produce, meat, and household kitchen items. Prices are also reasonable and they have a surprisingly large selection of wine and liquor. The parking lot is large for easy parking. They also have ice and fireworks available.

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ The grocery store is awesome and the staff are always friendly!! Always a pleasant experience!! But the reason I did not give it 5 stars is the ice cream shack. The staff are not friendly. If you ask any questions they roll their eyes and close the window. Thought maybe a bad day but we've gone 2 more times and those young girls are just grumpy, sassy and rude! While standing around waiting for our ice cream, we've heard others talking about it being an unpleasant experience for them as well. I don't think we will return here for ice cream.

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ I've been coming to Emma Lake for 20+ years and Ambrose has always had what we need. The staff is friendly and it's always well stocked and clean. They are now owned by CO-OP but it's definitely the same store I have always liked. But now they have slushes!
