About Alzheimer Society of Calgary

Communications Specialist

If you are searching for a progressive work environment and spirited culture that makes your workday more meaningful, join us at the Alzheimer Society of Calgary. This is where shared values and fresh ideas meet the ambition, energy, and encouragement to move them forward.

Our team is not limited to operating within the confines of a rigid structure. Our culture is buoyed by an entrepreneurial-style spirit and highly adaptable. This is an unmatched opportunity where you are supported to be creative, innovative and continue developing your skills.

We are searching for the right person to join us as our full-time Communications Specialist.
As our central resource for strategic, timely communications, you will focus on increasing awareness, strengthening stakeholder engagement, and connecting local families to the essential resources they need. You will also have the opportunity to work on collaborative, community-wide initiatives.

Reporting to the Executive Director, you are responsible for communications planning through to completion. You will develop and execute an integrated, multichannel plan and create compelling content. You also work collaboratively with many team members across the organization to help articulate and share the organization’s true, transformational community impact. This role coordinates with team resources such as creative, photography, volunteers and more to achieve exceptional results.

The right candidate is an experienced communications professional with impeccable writing skills and strong generalist-style abilities. Your organization and keen attention to detail enable you to create deliverables on time and on budget. With demonstrated initiative, you are resourceful in seeking new solutions to challenges and you recognize opportunities to be creative.

We are seeking a person with five to seven years of relevant communications or marketing experience and a Bachelor’s degree (or diploma) in communications, marketing or public relations (or equivalent). Experience in media relations is preferred. Your knowledge of many online platforms (such as Google Adwords, Google Analytics, social media planning and measurement tools, Raiser’s Edge/TeamRaiser or others) would be an asset. Occasional work outside of office hours may be required. Experience in the non-profit sector is nice to have but not mandatory.

We take pride in maintaining a stable yet flexible, team-oriented work environment and authentic work/life balance. Alzheimer Society of Calgary offers a competitive salary, benefits package and a hybrid working model.
