It's a nice, quiet place with a great musty book smell aesthetic. They have a wild mix of books, from moderns to classics to children's to rare books. They also have a lot of old cheap comics from the 80s that are a fun read. The downside is that they have rather weird and short hours.

There are so few bookstores like this one around anymore! The owner was working on a painting while I explored the labyrinthine aisles packed with thousands of old, out-of-print books on every topic and genre. The store has an authentic, musty-old-book smell that I love. You’re sure to find some gem of a book at a reasonable price here – but give yourself at least an hour to explore in order to find it. The store is bigger than it looks! Alfsen House is not a bookstore to hurry through. Take your time and enjoy the atmosphere. You’ll find old paperbacks and hardcovers, and everything is organized. The owner is helpful but also gives you your space and time to wander and examine titles. I left with five, vintage horror novels for under twenty dollars. Highly recommend!

Honestly a gem of a place. Their selection of books are so vast, they had books varying from every genre both old and new (as in publication, printing and condition). The man at the front desk who I can only presume was the owner was super nice, friendly, and open. I was there for the better part of an hour and from the moment I walked in to the majority of the time I spent in their the [man who I presume is the] owner was having such an in-depth conversation with another younger gentleman. You can just see how passionate and genuinely interested in books the owner is about the books The pricing was really good, I bough a book contain three of Plato's most famous plays for less that 3 dollars and the Harvard classic in literary and philosophy for 6.50. I don't think I can ever go here and not find a new book I didn't notice before

Favourite second hand bookstore I've ever been here, in Canada. The lure of buying a new classic book or kids book is irresistible. Yoy can find there many things you need. Prices are nice. Very cozy, extra atmospheric, hope to stop by more often. The owner is a great painter and a very nice person to talk to.

This place is amazing - and huge! I spent the first few minutes just wandering around in awe at the sheer number of books. This is also the first used bookstore I've been to where large print books have their own section, which was immensely helpful. The shopkeeper (possibly owner?) was very sweet and helpful, as well!
