About Alberta 66 Mountain Biking

You ride all the trails, but perhaps there are some holes in your game?  Want to increase speed, be more confident in loose steep sections and read the terrain better? Perhaps you have been mountain biking for years, but your technique is having trouble adapting to the new bikes and trail building techniques.  This is intended to be a diverse group of supportive individuals who are ready to try some new things.

Things you'll learn:

- Advanced braking techniques

- Maximizing traction

- Descending steeps

- Increasing speed through all types of corners

The sessions will start with either a shuttle or a climb and then much of our time will be spent sessioning sections of the selected trail (~2 hrs of riding). Participants should be prepared to do some pedaling. Sessions will begin at 6:30 pm.

Can I give more than 5 stars? I can’t say enough great things about AB66 and all the coaches, especially Jeff, Greg and Laura. Not only was the patent and friendly coaching very helpful in breaking bad habits, I had a blast! Jeff’s enthusiasm is especially contagious. We ran into an injured party (not riding with us) and Jeff instantly switched into a calm and confident first responder, rescuing a fellow rider and getting her safely down the trial to help - inspiring. No matter what your skill or experience is, I highly recommend riding with the team at AB66!

We used Alberta 66 mountain biking for a day of shuttling around moose mountain in July. Laura was super helpful and knew all there was to know about the trails, including which ones I could ride on my gravel bike and which ones I needed the mountain bike for. We also ran into Jeff (the other owner) on the trails and he was able to help me adjust my helmet. They are the friendliest people you will ever meet, and there’s no one better to help you out with a day of shuttling or a lesson.

Jeff is a fantastic and patient instructor, offering constructive feedback and encouragement often. Safety comes first and fun is a close second. Highly recommend Alberta 66, this was my first course with them (Jumps and Drops) and my husband's second. They have a passion for teaching and sharing their love of Mountain biking and this truly comes through in the lessons If you're considering a course with them, just do it, you won't regret it!

Did an intro jumps & drops clinic with a group of buddies which was led by Jeff. Thoroughly enjoyed the experience & we came away with much needed improvement in skills. Jeff was very knowledgeable & patient with the diverse skill levels. He even lent his bike out when one wasn't up to the task. Strongly recommended for anyone wanting to learn or improve those skills & gain confidence while doing so.

I have shuttled with them and took my first lesson today. Scott is a beauty ripping us around in Oscar the van and giving trail advice. Jeff is so knowledgeable and easy to learn from, I have been riding for 10+ years and lots of stuff I needed to fix/tweak. So good at explaining everything in a way that makes sense. I am a better rider now for sure now and I can't wait to put my skills to the test. Me and my buddy are planning to book another session!

My husband and I spent a day with Laura at Moose Mountain. She was super friendly and very knowledgeable about all things mountain biking! After a quick warm up lap to assess our skill levels, she took us on some more challenging trails trails and stopped at each section to let us know what to expect and which features would be within our skill level. With her guidance I was able to tackle more difficult trails than I would have felt comfortable trying on my own. We are from Manitoba and this was our second time biking in Alberta, and after just one day with Laura I felt more confident and comfortable on my bike! We will definitely be going back!

I've taken my share of lessons over the years and I can say that Alberta 66 has been my favourite! I took a one night drops & jumps class with Jeff & Logan and a four week series with Laura & Andra. Every one of these coaches were amazing! They make sure everyone feels included, gets their fair share of feedback and that we all have fun! The way they teach makes everything digestible and approachable ....and even when you're apprehensive, you find yourself feeling safe & confidant. Will definitely be signing up with them again next year!
