★ ★ ★ ★ ★ I ordered the butter prawns dish. Man it was bad. The sauce tasted like chef boyardee tomato sauce. Like a sweet ketchup. Honestly shocked it tasted so bad. Even butter curry sauce in food courts tasted better than this stuff.
To add rice and naan was 8 dollars. They gave a literal half a cup of cooked rice. Jesus such cheapskates. Naan was ok and I appreciated that they removed the tail from the prawns. That’s the only reason it gets 2 stars instead of one.

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ Extremely delicious, intense, authentic indian flavours. Also very reasonable priced. The butter chicken was great and so was the naan. My only complaint was that the rice portion was kind of small and a bit dry like it had been cooked hours before.

Update July 17 2020: Love coming to Akbar's Own. Their food is consistently delicious and their customer service is great. We've been here twice in the past two weeks. Both times, they asked fo our contact information. Keep in mind that we are in Phase 3 of the pandemic.

This restaurant is absolutely my fave! Great service from Tarin… always! And food is continuously delicious!!!!

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ Absolutely wonderful Indian restaurant in Kitsilano neighborhood. Vibe was great, service was outstanding, washroom was clean, all COVID-19 precautions in place, food was dainty. We ordered Aalo Tikki and Kuchumber Salad for appetizer, Paneer Makhani for main, Tandoori Roti bread, Mango Ice Cream for dessert and Sweet & Salty Lime Soda for drinks. Every item was right on point. Staff was so kind to customize Paneer Makhani to our taste, i.e., less sweet, which was generous of them. Will certainly visit again. Highly recommended.

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ I’m new to Vancouver and tried the Lamb Biryani here from a friend’s reccomendation. The Biryani is really gooooddd, the meat is tender, spices are the right amount and chili spiciness is not sharp and overwhelming. Got mango lassi also and they’re really good for hot days. Owner was super friendly also.
