Agnew's General Store

What a place!! Everything you could need and more (including ice cream). These kinds of general stores always amaze me...I could browse for hours through trinkets, hardware, stationary, tools, clothes... the list is endless. Well worth a visit, whether you're local (but of course you don't need telling) or on vacation.

Been going here most of my life. Same familiar faces as always. There's almost everything you need here. From tools to hardware and food and great gift ideas as well. A must stop if you are in Wilberforce.

Nice little place with good service inside. You'll find snacks, food, supplies for home or cottage, tools, fishing and more. Another good place for your cottage weekend or just general shopping.

Awesome general store that has been serving the community for 100 years. They are well stocked and I can usually find what I need in the hardware section. They also have a great selection of clothes, food and decor. Their prices are usually on par with other hardware stores, and even large chain/big box stores!

Whatever you need from clothes to maple syrup and more… Agnews will have it! Worth the visit.

When I first moved to Wilberforce just under a year ago and visited Agnews, I knew I was in trouble. I had to make a pact with my pocketbook to only bring $20 and no plastic when I visited, because I could spend a fortune on just the wonderful souvenirs alone. Now, I walk my dog to the store at least a couple times a week, collect my mail, as well as the local papers and flyers, and anything, (and I do mean anything) else I may have discovered that I needed that day. Yeah, that pact went out the window quickly, and plastic accompanies me every visit. Everything everyone else has posted rings so true, from selection to prices, but especially staff friendliness and knowledge. I LOVE THIS STORE!

Clothing, gifts, food, hardware, there's a little bit of everything in this store! Whatever you need for your cottage or camping stay, they likely have it and then some! There's also a post office.

Agnews literally makes my heart so happy every time I think about it or visit. The staff are absolutely wonderful and so personable. It's smiles and good laughs all around, that's for sure. Agnews really puts the "general" in general store—no joke, it's wild. They have an incredibly wide selection of items from crisps, candy, soda, ice cream, ice cubes and blocks, basic kitchenware and cleaning supplies, bug spray and ant traps, greeting cards, homemade fudge, s'mores essentials, mugs, maple syrup, jams, pickled items, coffee, giftware and cottage accessories, crossword puzzles, inflatable water floaty items, fairy garden items, water shoes, beach/waterfront toys, baseball caps and other hats, hoodies, plaid, summer clothing, toys and trinkets, stuffed animals, board games, art/craft supplies, proper paint for inside/outside use, puzzles galore, gardening shovels and rakes, firewood, soil, garden tools, basic car/automotive parts and essentials, batteries, tons of screws, nuts and bolts, tools for the shop, rope, basic camping essentials, basic toiletries, fun signs and magnets, cool rocks, and so much more! It's a great place to find unique gift items for others (and yourself hehe). Unfortunately for the wallet, they get new stock basically every week which means there's always something new to look at. Some of my best (or better yet, fondest) memories are with the people and through my many experiences at Agnews. No matter where I am in the world, Agnews will always be my favourite store. Honestly, it's not just a store...it's a meeting place where people can feel at home and catch up with one another. It's so special in that way. Something as simple as picking up milk can turn into a 30 minute conversation with someone you haven't seen in a while and I love that. Wilberforce wouldn't be the same without this store. If you visit this store, don't forget to grab a mystery candy bag and a scoop of Eileen's ice cream!
