This program is meant to help stabilize teens struggling with mental health and addictions. This program does anything but that. While I was a this program I got a psychiatrist that was very unhelpful and treated me like I was lower then him for multiple reasons. A few being my age, my families history. my biological father's history, and the part of town I was from. I was put on a med that did not work and were just messing with my brain, he would have them at 75mg then move up to 175mg and then back down. They had made a lot of promises that were not seen through. The whole time I was at the program I did not get the full treatment I was suppose to. I was treated very differently then the kids who came from better and richer sides of town. After being there for four months and not getting any treatment, I was kicked out of the program for having a mental breakdown. The schooling in this program was amazing, the small classrooms and two teachers were very helpful. I caught up on my schooling after missing two and a half years of it. (Matt was my teacher). The other part I really enjoyed was the yoga in the morning lead by Erin, I found it to be very calming and relax me before my hellish days. The nursing staff were definitely the kindest and friendliest nurses I have met (especially Christopher).

I am a diagnosed DID system and the staff did not let me or another student with DID switch because it could be "harmful/scary to other young people" or unhealthy for the host.

honestly. the help at this place shouldn’t even be called help. everytime i stepped foot in this building everything got worse. I was set up with Dr Shola who has been the least helpful β€œdoctor” i’ve ever spoken to, she never listened to me and what i had to say and only took into account what my parents thought. maybe this is because i’m 16, but i think i should have some say on what happens in my brain. I do not recommend this service to anyone.

Adtp is amazing. They give chances to people who have nowhere else that will. They are an amazing team of hardworking staff who appreciate their jobs and work with multiples of youth coping with mental health issues and struggling daily. Their help decreased a lot of the stress in my life. Nobody works magic, but these people come close. Struggling with your mental health is not a walk in the park but they will take clients on many walks in the park :) pleasantly.
