Our main level floor reno was extensive, Ron, his son and team spliced in flooring to match a new kitchen floor to the old floor in the main living area. Despite hiccups with other trades, Acorn Wood Floors spend endless extra hours to make sure the job was complete and the entire main floor refinished, in the time frame required. They were exceptionally friendly, approachable and able to 'go with the flow' when required. We would highly recommend Ron and his team for your hardwood flooring needs, they will exceed your expectations!

We had the great pleasure of having Acorn Floors install our flooring during our partial home renovation last summer (2018) – they removed our previously damaged cherry flooring and replaced it with a stunning European white oak hardwood that has dramatically changed the feel of our home. With an extensive project like replacing the hardwood floors in your entire two-level home, (including stairs!) a lot can go wrong – not with Acorn. They were AMAZING every step of the way. In my professional life I am an interior designer who works closely with contractors – I am regularly on jobsites throughout the build process, as well as getting to be there for the end result. I get to see the habits (good & bad) of the many trades that come in and out of a home, and I know the value of craftsmen with integrity and invaluable knowledge. I have not come across anyone in the flooring business with the level of technical skill and customer relations integrity that Acorn displayed when removing and replacing my hardwood flooring. Since my own home's project was only a reno, myself and numerous family members (as well as a great deal of furniture + boxes – moving one whole floor of furniture in and out of spare rooms does not a neat home make!) were around for much of the installation. It was very impressive to see the owner of Acorn, Ron Teljeur, and his son Alex, pour blood, sweat & tears into our project in 30'C + weather. Even despite the exhausting conditions (including an unexpected K3 sub-floor that was glued beneath the kitchen, making for a soul-crushing couple of weeks as Alex tirelessly endured the tests of tedium and heat chipping away at a sub-floor that could only be removed one chisel-chip at a time), Ron always had great ideas for how to make our project shine and how to problem solve on the fly. When we opened up the floors in our balcony we found some structural issues with a support beam that was more “adjacent to” than “connected to” the beam it needed to be connected to – Ron immediately brought it to our attention, discussed our options, and ended up coming up with a solution. This same level of job-site knowledge and communication was present in every room Acorn tackled for us, including a stunning herringbone floor in a room that required serious and exacting floor levelling. As if their integrity throughout the process wasn't enough, I cannot finish this review without saying what a joy it was to get to know Ron & Alex as they worked on our project. As a father & son duo they were just plain fun to be around – the easy manner of their friendship helped a cramped house with a lot of people, furniture, noise, and heat maintain a relaxed feeling in spite of the conditions. Having such a pleasant (and tidy!) working atmosphere was priceless on a reno like this where we could not vacate the house. By the end of the process we were honestly sad to see Ron & Alex go – but when they did, they left us with flooring that has a level of craftsmanship and thoughtfulness that is just not seen in most houses today. I would not hesitate to hire them again for myself or a client – in fact, I look forward to working with them again in the future.
