they have moved to 630 Carnarvon Street in New Westminster from their old address at 630 Columbia Street. The new place is only 2 blocks up from old place that burned down; their phone number remains the same.

A bunch of scamers that allegedly fight for renters rights ! All they want at the end is monthly contribution so they have money to be paid for their useless work

Place is great to help people that have low income. I understand that now you have to pay more for doing taxes, what I don't understand is they can't tell you how much it will be until you get there. After sitting for 30 seconds he said its $20 dollars minimum. While waiting for an hour I watched 3 people have to come back to pay for the services. What is frustrating is that what if people didn't have this money? I get you need to pay but at least prepare people that have limited income for what to expect. One family paid 50 dollars and they were shocked. Had to come back with cash. Maybe a sign at the door or when you book the appointment let them know its not donation anymore.

A long while ago when I went to Acorn for my first time to get my taxes done, I honestly didn't know what kind of place it was besides it being a place to help low income individuals with taxes. I hadn't even known until after my experience that they, Acorn, was a group that, in general, helped advocate and represent the poor. Keep in mind, when I went to get my taxes done, there was no charge, unlike how it is now. When it was my turn, I stepped into an office with an older gentleman, whom I can't remember to this day, though I do know he doesn't work for Acorn anymore. Giving him my T4, he asked me some basic questions about myself, while opening up to me about what Acorn is outside of doing taxes. I took this as an opportunity to also open up about myself too... obviously, I was, and still am, poor / low-income. I also told him a little bit about my mental health as well, which he responded to in a positive way, citing that Acorn also helps individuals who suffer from mental health issues. At the end of the session, I thanked this person, though before I got up to leave, he asked if I would like to donate money. I told him, "No", though, he reiterated that I should donate. Refusing again, he was still insistent that I donate... for what seemed like a half-hour of me refusing and him coaxing me to donate, I was beginning to get very annoyed and incredibly anxious - I even made it apparent to this guy that I was pretty upset and anxious, which he acknowledged, though it didn't stop him from continuing to coax me for money. Eventually, I did cave and I ended up giving this guy $15 just so I could get out of there. After a week, I explained what happened with my doctor, and he was pretty shocked with what transpired, saying that I should probably call and ask for my money back. I did, and no matter what I said, they couldn't refund me anything. Also, remember that while I was at their office I was told they helped out people who suffer from mental illness. I called their office and asked if someone there could help me with the process of getting on disability assistance. They told me they'd be glad to and that they would get back to me when they'd be able to help. Weeks would go by, I'd call them again, still have to wait. Months, again, nothing from them. I ended up signing up for disability by myself.

Was going to get our taxes done this year, but they aren't doing them this year (2022). I contacted them a couple weeks ago regarding an issue with my landlord trying to force me out, no response from anyone. I guess they just gave up on low income people that are struggling.
