★ ★ ★ ★ ★ Abbotsford International Airport is my favorite airport to come to the lower mainland.
It's so much more laid back and stress-free compared to Vancouver International Airport. There's hardly a line-up at security. Renting a car is easy and the cars are so close by.
In total, there are 5 domestic gates and one international. Gates 1 and 5 are for Flair while gate 3 is for WestJet. Gate 4 is for Swoop and I don't know about gate 2 because I'm sitting in 5 and am too lazy to walk over to find out.
Inside the security terminal, there is one restaurant and one washroom area. Outside security, there is the same named restaurant.
You will likely need to walk outside to get to and from the plane. When it is cold and wet, that is a drawback. The good is that the baggage area is just right of the exit.
Overall, this is a great airport to fly in and out of. There's less stress as you know it is unlikely to be jammed pack. Thereby delaying your arrival at the gate.
Bottomline, pick YXX over YVR!
