What?
Our specialty is mature, specimen deciduous and coniferous trees, propagated from local Calgary and area seed sources. We only grow plants that have proven to be prairie-hardy, at our Aldersyde nursery. Searching for the hardiest, local seed sources is one of our main focuses to make sure you get the hardiest plant material available. Click here to read more about our seed provenance.
We employ the latest growing and pruning techniques to ensure our plants grow up to be beautiful specimens, with great, long-lasting structure. After our harvest, we take the extra time and effort to fill in our harvested tree holes with freshly composted topsoil, instead of simply tilling the ground to fill in holes. This allows us to maintain our farm indefinitely, preserving our land for future use, as well as refreshing the soil for the next crop of trees.
It has taken many hours of work and expertise, over many seasons, to bring you these hand picked plants—we are proud of them, and trust they will serve you well for years to come.

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ I agree with Lindsay Snodgrass... They might need to teach their customer service a manners in answering the phone. He don't even know how to say good morning and when I asked him "how are you doing" he answered me back "what do you want". I called 10 mins ago.

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ Drove out to choose trees for our backyard (our landscaper directed to do so). The staff were extremely rude and told us the farm was not open to the public. Not very accommodating or customer service oriented. Needless to say we did not use their product.

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ Met with a salesperson to review our landscaping plan last September to place an order for spring of 2014. They did not communicate issues or problems to me except whenever I called to get a date of delivery. When I finally spoke with the salesperson after many attempts there was always an excuse; such as poor weather , larger orders ahead of our order or alternate trees to those that we had requested to the plan. This was a surprise to us, because during our initial meeting sourcing of the trees would not be an issue; considering that we had a lead time of 9 months. We had a promise of a delivery date for the end of May and, again for mid June. We proceeded with arranging a scan from "call before you dig" 5 Star Trees did not call or email to indicate a delay. Finally, we just had enough of false promises, and lack of professionalism and cancelled our whittled down order of 2 trees and 44 shrubs and perennials.

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ Very poor customer service. The older guy that shows the trees is extremely rude and has a very poor attitude. I had to deal with this guy when I placed a large order last fall and again this spring when I was about to place another order - both times hes was very unpleasant to deal with. I ended up not placing an order and driving away. Will take my business elsewhere.

We had made an appointment, had followed their Covid guidelines, had picked out a tree and all the guy wanted to do was argue with us about “who had told us” we could bring our child with us. Left without a tree and went to a competitor up the road.

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ HORRIBLE HORRIBLE customer service! If your a small farm or home looking for trees bring your service elsewhere... literally Walmart has better service - it’s SO commercialized which is really sad to see for a family business. It took WEEKS to get ahold of somebody to get an appointment and every phone call they asked for the same information that should have been on file, we finally got one two weeks out at at arrival are told we can leave our children in the car as only 2 people are allowed… I’m sorry WHAT?! I had over 5 different phone conversations and was never told of this POLICY and also I’m not getting into some random man’s truck who has zero respect to tell me what trees I’m buying today. We gladly gave our appointment to somebody who was a walk in (which the gentleman was also infuriated over)… I hope they bought the smallest shrub you have and know you lost lifelong customers looking to start an orchid.
