Train & Streetcar

Travel back in time

Train

Free with your admission, the 1919 Baldwin Steam engine and train whisks you from the Park’s train station at the front of the Park to the train platform at the back near the 1846 Fort and the new Indigenous Peoples Experience. A favourite of the young and old.

Streetcar

Ride the rails to 1905 and 1920 streets on streetcars that have been maintained by our valued volunteers of the Edmonton Radial Railway Society.

As a safety policy, we are no longer able to accommodate strollers, walkers, wheelchairs, or wagons on our streetcars.

We didn't get on any midway rides. They were down until later that day. We arrived at 130 and they close at 5pm. Somewhere they did open up.

There aren't a lot of rides but they are free with park admission so it's definitely a nice touch.

October 2, 2021. My wife and I recently came to Fort Edmonton park and we walked through the Midway unfortunately it was closed for the season so we did not get the experience the rides but they look amazing. We will return again when the rides are open. Recent renovations will make this a great place to visit. It’s currently closed due to COVID but will open later in the summer. The midway is inside Fort Edmonton park so it can only be enjoyed while in the park.

The Christmas market was great fun but poorly organised for those who pre-bought food tickets as there was no separate line to pick them up so you're stuck behind people buying tickets and then deciding for ages how many food tickets they should buy. Definitely oversold tickets as car park was overbusy

Fort Edmonton had a wonderful Christmas market event last weekend. It was beautiful, lights strung everywhere, a big Christmas tree decorated and there were fire pits lit around the site to help you warm up. Lots of activities for families including a maze, the carousel was running (inside) and there was a kid zone. There were a few glitches like long lines to get in, then get your tickets for food /beverages. The lines for food were confusing and again long waits, the drinks were overpriced in my opinion. All that being said it was the first year. I'm sure next year the glitches will be worked out and the site will be set up for better flow. It really did look like a market you would see in Germany. I hope they add more dates so mire people can enjoy it.
