WHERE IS YOUNG’S WILDERNESS CAMP?

Young’s Wilderness Camp is located a little over an hour’s drive northwest of International Falls, Minnesota.

From the U.S.A, drive to International Falls or Baudette, Minnesota, clearing customs at either place. Take Ontario Highway 11 to 71. (If you are coming from International Falls you will go west on Highway 11 and if you are coming through Baudette, you will go east.) Go north on Highway 71 for approximately 40 miles. You will go through the town of Nestor Falls, then through Sabaskong First Nations and a couple miles past this you will see the “Young’s Road” sign. Turn left onto our road (it will be the first road after the blue Kakagi Storage building). Once you turn onto the road you will see a barn red garage on your right hand side and a white house on your left hand side - please drive very slowly through this yard. Continue down the road to the landing and you will find a phone on the brown boat house by the dock. Call us from there (the number is on the phone) to let us know you have arrived and we will come and pick you up.

For those who fly commercially we can make the arrangements with the local transportation company to have you picked up from the International Falls airport. For those who chose to fly their own aircraft, Nestor Falls has an asphalt runway which is 75' x 3,750' long. Airport details can be found at http://www.snnf.ca/nestor-falls-airport/.

I've fished year round for over 40 years, so I've put in a lot of time on the water and this camp is right on target for real fishermen and their families. Cabins are super clean, meals are fantastic, and the owners Carol and Perry treat you like you are family. We've been there 4 times and each trip is better. they have improvements to the camp each year; it is their home too. This isn't a stuck up "lodge for the rich" but it's not some "bargain-basement" place either. Cabins are simple, but CLEAN. The meals are all home-made. Hot lunches at camp or they will pack your lunch or even give you all the supplies to make your own shore lunch. If you need a guide, they have friendly guys who can put you on the fish. It is the trip I look forward to all year long!! Tell Carol you saw what Corbyn wrote! ;->

I strongly recommend all visitors to enjoy a guided trip with Perry, since not only will he put you on the fish, you will also laugh a lot! I always shed a tear or two when I have to leave YWC.
