My grandmother has been staying here for 5 years now. I do not understand how a company that says they provide for elderly could not provide any kind of facilities for them. From room cleaning, to food services to building maintenance. They expect the residents (topically 70/80 year olds) to do everything themselves. If anyone is facing the same issue, I would love to be contacted to further discuss this issue. These elderly people, as much as self sufficient cannot be expected to live in these conditions, we are all happy to pay for extra services but these need to be provided.

Don't let the rating fool you. The star is for cleanliness and, yes, there are friendly, smiling staff when you are around. But when you leave-- BEWARE -- your loved one will be subject to their whims. My grandmother has been there for over a year and her mental health has steadily declined. She is a devout South Asian woman who has followed her religious faith all her life. One of the teachings she abides by is to not cut her hair. WITHOUT her permission, WITHOUT advising her, someone at this facility decided to cut her hair. She was devastated! When the manager found out, they vowed to get to the bottom of it. Haven't heard back from them in over six months. All this from a centre that is advertised as "culturally sensitive". Places like this exist to offer expertise that families alone can't provide. They shouldn't needlessly add to the suffering.

During this stressful COVID lock down times, since we couldn't visit my grandmother, the caregivers at Markham location had a small celebration for my her. They also called couple of my aunts so they can face time with my grandmother and wish her for her birthday. The staff there are always very accommodating. Every time I went to take my grandmother out for the day, they made sure I had her meds and meal instructions. Since my grandmother wears diapers now, they made sure we had more than enough while we are out with her. Thanks to the staff of Yee Hong!!

I have to say the whole facility is nice and all. It's great that it's asian friendly but some of the nurses there are super rude and seem like they hate there job or something. There's a nurse there that is super rude every time we call. Her name is Vivian. We spoke to her in Chinese, she said she didn't speak Chinese. So we spoke to her in English but she doesn't seem to understand. She is so rude and got annoyed so easily when you ask her to do something. We told her that we forgot to tell the nurse when we left that there was a problem with my relatives foot. She gave me a whole lecture on why didn't I tell the nurse when I was there, why didn't I tell them immediately, I should tell them immediately, etc. I already told her I forgot and it was late, the lights were already out by then and there was no people/nurses around. That's why I'm calling the next day to tell them in the morning. She went to check, and then called back to complain again, again lecturing me the same topic of telling them and complaining about other things. Her job is to take care of and support the people and the elderly that live there. But she criticises and complain's so much, doesn't seem like she genuinely cares about them. She also said that "even if I go check, there's nothing I can do about it". I wanted to let them know that there is such issue that exists. She can at least leave a note on the system for the nurses or doctors or someone to check up on it. AND NOT REPEATEDLY HARASS ME OVER THE TOPIC OF LETTING THEM KNOW. I already told her I will do that next time but this time I forgot. If there was more PSW or nurses walking around it would be easier. Extremely horrible customer service and way of handling things. This is not the first time we had an issue with this lady and her attitude. She in impatient and always whining. She can just say things nicely but she doesn't.
