I would never rent a temporary unit from her again, my experience was so unpleasant. Cheap, pushy, patronizing, and completely out of touch with our needs.

Jane was a great host, the property is absolutely beautiful. Quiet, well maintained and private this place has been a godsend. Family and pet friendly honestly wish I didn't have to go.

We spent a week here. This place served us perfectly. Check-in was very relaxed. We made day trips to Victoria, Port Renfrew, and of course spent time around Duncan and Cowichan Bay. The children very much enjoyed the trampoline, watching the deer at the edge of the lawn, and feeding the resident rabbit a few carrots. At the end of the day there was plenty of space in our suite for us all (6) to relax. All bedding and kitchenware were provided. There was some residence upstairs, but we didn’t notice them. We felt like we had the whole backyard to ourselves. Thanks for the comfortable stay. We would definitely consider visiting here again. I know this review is a few years late, I hope it isn’t inappropriate, but this place hasn’t received enough reviews for its value.

Haven’t even arrived at our reserved suite at Xanadu Estates but I have serious questions about this lodging. I gave 2 months notice of cancellation (even amid the Covid -19 pandemic) and cannot get back my deposit of $339.60. To be honest it started to frighten me how deceiving a company can be.) Started reading reviews and looking at her false representation of what she is offering gave me big concerns. Different rates for different suites or same suites all over the internet. Googling “Xanadu Estates” I found she is advertising suites with washer and dryer (not true, apparently coin operated only by a reviewer ), a pool (also not true), and you may end up in a suite down the road of inferior quality. Don’t even ask about the infrared sauna. Her advertisements show numerous different pics of numerous different suites which I am sure aims to confuse the traveller as it did to me. Stay away. Find somewhere honest to do business. This is for sure not this place.

We had a booking for the winter of 2020/21. We were forced to cancel due to several complications with Covid. We provided 63 days notice and Jane decided to keep the deposit. She provided no contract or booking details. Jane kept referring to her web site which states the deposit is non-refundable. I was not even on her site to obtain this info. Be very careful dealing with Jane and ensure everything you do is in writing. Slippery lady!!! Also be very carful as to what you are renting as there are false claims on the web. This is so frustrating as we have been guests for the past two winters. Past stays were reasonable but lots of little issues we did not worry too much about. As you can see Jane tries to say we have never stayed at her place before, how ridicules. She has tried this with all of her frustrated past customers, as you can read. Nice try Jane, you run a scam and have stolen many deposits. Carma will catch you shortly with your re-zoning application, you CANNOT continue running illegal suites and stealing!! And that truth is of public record. Anyone can see that. Lier!! And "Angelaandfriends" I see your post; I will let you know as we progress through various means of getting the deposit back. You should be able to join our fight!

We were fortunate to stay at this wonderful place for three months to escape the Saskatchewan winter. It truly felt like a home away from home. The grounds were beautiful, the forest serene and the location in stunning Cowichan Valley was very convenient. Only 30 minutes to Victoria! Grocery stores were only five minutes away in either Cobble Hill or Mill Bay. Jane was a lovely host and was extremely helpful. We would absolutely recommend Xanadu as a winter escape or year-round retreat.

I began visiting in February 2019 off and on from Vancouver. Jane, the owner, and I agreed on a long term stay commencing September 2019 in the cabin escape. Jane always wanted to be paid in cash. In May 2019 I was hospitalized for major depression and had to cancel my summer bookings. Of course Jane kept the entire booking fee. THEN in September I sublet my Vancouver apartment for one year and relocated to her cabin giving her a $730 damage deposit. One week after I arrived I determined she had been entering the property without my consent because she took the vacuum. I asked her to give me proper notice. THEN, the next night at 10 pm she showed up with another vacuum and barged in. She cornered me in my bedroom swearing angrily. I had to run out of the cabin barefoot onto the dirt road to get away from her. I was yelling "help" to the neighbor whom I got to know. He came out. Jane then sat in her car outside my cabin for two hours while I cried. THEN two days later she came in the morning and, once again, forced her way in. She stated "Are you too mentally ill to understand that the police are going to throw you out at the end of the month." She said she wouldn't accept anymore rent. This time she stepped back out on the patio and I locked the door. She wiggled the handle and tried to get back in. Terrified, I now had nowhere to live.THEN a few days later she ran her car into the back of me while I was walking up the road on the property and told me I had better be working on finding another place. I had nowhere to go and had a little dog. I sent her an email transfer for the full month of October for $1800 but was so terrified of her that I left in middle of the month and was homeless in the Cowichan Valley until I could find something else until I could return to my sublet apartment in Vancouver in October of 2020. I have been completely traumatized by this experience and just recently filed a human rights complaint. This woman must be stopped. She also has two grow ops on the property. I have listed her business on YELP and think everyone should post reviews there.

Jane may steal your deposit! Jane is always asking for CASH and does not provide a contract. We ended up paying without a contract which was our mistake. Jane did steal the deposit after we had to make a change to our plans. We provided over 2 months notice and still were not able to get back our $1700 deposit. THEIF. Ask for a contract so you have something to fall back on if you have to adjust your trip. I see this is a trend for Jane.. Looks like she will also say she has not dealt with me........We want our money back Jane, you cant steal peoples money and think you can get away with it.......
