About Winnipeg Youth Wind Ensemble
Michelle Styles (she/her) is in her 11th year as a music educator, the artistic director of the Winnipeg Youth Wind Ensemble, and is very excited to be pursuing a Master of Music degree at the University of Manitoba in Wind Conducting in Fall 2022 with Dr. Jacquie Dawson. She has taught all ages in both rural and urban schools across Saskatchewan, and since 2017 at École Sage Creek School in Winnipeg. As a trumpet player, she has enjoyed the opportunity to perform with many different ensembles, including the Saskatoon Brass Bands, Queen City Brass Band, Winnipeg Wind Ensemble, East Side Jazz, and the Mennonite Community Orchestra. Michelle and her husband, composer Pete Meechan, love taking their two miniature dachshunds for walks, watching Jets games and Liverpool matches, cooking great food, and enjoying live music in their free time.
