The Wildlife Rescue Society of Saskatchewan is a registered charity. We operate the free Wildlife 911 Hotline, which is available province-wide, 12 hours per day, 365 days per year. Please call 306-242-7177 for wildlife-related advice or our rescue and transportation services.

About Wildlife Rescue Society of Saskatchewan

We provide assistance to wildlife in need, and the people who encounter them, through our wildlife hotline, trained and experienced hotline educators and field personnel 365 days a year.

The WRSOS has over two hundred volunteers and four paid summer student employees. We work with twenty veterinary clinics that volunteer their services free or at a reduced rate, and ten provincially licensed wildlife rehabilitators province wide.

We provide public education regarding the need for intervention, how to manage a range of wildlife situations and how to prevent or resolve human-wildlife conflict issues. We not only improve wildlife protection but also raise wildlife conservation awareness in Saskatchewan through our hotline, website and events.

I've called WRSOS several times over the years for assistance with helping wildlife that was in trouble and they have always been fantastic. They do so much as a volunteer organization with so little. Thank you for all you folks do!

When I found a young downed hawk in my backfield, I found the volunteers went above and beyond. I felt supported through the whole process, and can’t thank them enough on the education they provided me and my family. Thank you for all you do! (Hawk was named Char in your care!)

I called WRSOS when I saw a Jack rabbit in our office parking lot injured. I gave a description of the animal, the injury, and where we are located and somewhere was there remarkably fast. They were so friendly, and worked quickly. I really appreciated the response from WRSOS. A great, invaluable, volunteer run organization.

A wonderful organization run purely by volunteers who do their best to help ASAP! The Hotline is responsive and helpful and ensures to ask all the right questions to assess the situation and determine the best course of action. They work with local wildlife rehabilitators all across the province to get animals the care they need.

I had called asking for assistance in removing an injured bat from in front of where I work. I was told someone would be there very soon, but then 20 min later I got a second call telling me to just β€œleave it in a box by a tree”. I ended up having to take it myself to another wildlife rescue place and he passed away about 2 min before arriving there. If I hadn’t had my time wasted maybe I would have been able to give him a better chance. Was pretty disappointed in the lack of interest in actually helping at all. Also, as part of the sask Health system, you are required to report any bats found on the ground near public places especially with children so they can inspect if it has rabies or not. I had to do that on my own when that’s what I assumed they would be aware of, being Saskatchewan wide.

The volunteer staff are incredible; they go above and beyond in their support and rescue missions. My sister had an owl caught in their barbed wire fence a couple years ago, and WRSOS gave them very throrough details on how to remove and transport the injured owl. My sisters farm is quite isolated so the best they could do was meet at a halfway point. Everything went as expected, and this organization did everything they could to save the grey horned owl. Unfortunately the owl succumbed to its injuries, and this wasn’t surprising due to the magnitude of his injuries, however that didn’t stop them from trying their very best. Incredible staff.

I was fortunate enough to observe a beaver being returned to the wild after it had received the best of care from the Wildlife Rescue Society of Saskatchewan and the veterinary college. WRSOS volunteers do amazing work and respond to such a great number and variety of calls. I have immense respect for the care and attention they give to wild animals throughout Saskatchewan!

A wonderful organization full of helpful volunteers. They are super helpful in trying to help whenever I call. Most of the time it’s simply me worried over a possible injured animal and they help guide me on what to do and how to assess if it needs further intervention or not. It can sometimes be hard to reach someone but that is so understandable as they are always busy tending to other calls or animals. Sometimes you just have to take a deep breath and know that they will help you as soon as they possibly can.
