A gorgeous little camp area with 14 sites. A couple of them are absolutely perfect for hammock camping.

Camping for the night was only $5.70 and included free firewood for the stay. There was 14 camping spots and we were the only ones at the campground.

Beautiful "basic" campground. Area to keep your food safe from black bears, and you will likely see one or two. First come first serve sites with fire pits and supplied wood. Quite on a beautiful lake, great for kayak or canoe.

Lovely unserviced campground, for tents only. Sites aren't terribly private but there is free firewood and there are often empty campsites.

Experience with fellow campers is a big improvement over the last week of July 2019 camping. Battling campers playing death metal music to 4 am where every 2nd word is a F bomb, on the first night and partying Clear Lake employees on the 2nd night made sleeping nearly impossible. This time is serene and beautiful, as anyone can expect. It is unfortunate you cannot use the lake because it is almost completely drained.

Spent a weekend tenting at Whirlpool Lake in mid-September 2021. This is an unserviced walk-in tenting campground only. There are about 14 sites scattered around with some more private than others. I really enjoyed site 12 which was one of the few sites with views of the lake in the distance. All sites had picnic tables and a fire pit and there was a kitchen shelter and free dry firewood which was great. There is no water so make sure to bring your own. There is one bear box locker to use, and a modern outhouse as well. The sites are a close walk to the parking area. It’s unfortunate that you can’t actually access the lake as it’s very marshy around the edges and is pretty far in the distance from the actual campground. Didn’t see any wildlife or signs of wildlife. The campground is self-registration so you fill out your information and credit card info and place in the secured locker. It’s $16.05 per night. I liked the peacefulness of this campground and it wasn’t noisy like Wasagaming. Enjoyed hearing the sounds of nature!

Very nice campground. Cheap and very close to nature. Be prepared to store your food safely as there are many bear sightings in thw area.
