★ ★ ★ ★ ★ We love living here! Onsite staff are all very friendly, and any concerns we have had have been addressed promptly, including on weekends. Everything is well-maintained, both inside and outside. Walkways are kept clear, even during active snowfall, and there are always staff around to tackle new problems that might arise.
Our neighbors are quiet and friendly, and the neighborhood feels very safe in general. We have enjoyed the wide variety of birds that are attracted to the trees, access to the river valley trail system, and nearby shops to walk to. The units get loads of natural light as well, thanks to the large and plentiful windows.
There are a couple of downsides that come with living in such old buildings, though. Soundproofing against outside noises is virtually nonexistent; thankfully the area is generally quiet, but wind, distant sirens, and other sounds can seem quite loud from inside. There is no visitor parking, and street parking can be very limited in the winter. The kitchens are small with awkward cupboard layouts. Lastly, there are no parcel lockers at the mailboxes, so Canada Post will only leave a pickup notice for you to go to the post office.
But overall, we feel that it is worth the trade-offs and have been happy to come home here every day.
