Waterfront Park - Calgary

Quite serene and bucolic private property away from the bustle of the city. Pond was refreshingly cold for paddleboarding.

As a professional DJ that specializes in Weddings and Parties, I always enjoy my experience at the Al Azhar Shrine Centre. The beautiful grounds are very beautiful and there located right next to the bow river. The staff are friendly, pleasant and helpful. Access for set -up is very good for unloading my equipment. I look forward to doing many more events here.

My nephew and his LOVELY bride got married at this venue this summer. It's in an exceptionally beautiful setting beside the Elbow River and the service was excellent. We were ALL very happy with it. HIGHLY recommend

One of the most deceitful companies I have ever encountered or worked with. Simply Elegant at Skyline Calgary was going to be the place where my wife and I got married. We chose this venue and company based on our walk-through and interaction with the representative on our tour. Less than 24 hours prior to Calgary going on severe lockdown measures due to COVID, my then fiance and I put down a deposit for $3,000 to book our wedding. Within the 24 hours we asked if it is possible to get our deposit back as it looks like for the foreseeable future, our wedding would be postponed (at this point, we had only gone for a tour). Red Flag #1 - We asked for our deposit back within 24 hours and were told it is too late, we had already signed the contract. Red Flag #2 - We asked if it would be possible to speak to the owner just to hear their take on this and were promptly told that they are not available to speak us (extremely concerning was we had just given them $3,000 and were planning to get married with this company). At this time we decided it would be best not to put a negative emotion towards our wedding and to just keep the excitement alive. The months went by where nothing could be done in terms of menu tasting, or new dates because of the COVID measures. Eventually, we were told that we could have our wedding early 2021 (which conflicted with our idea of a Summer wedding). After some back and forth we were finally allowed to post pone to July 2021. Red Flag #3 - We were constantly asked to keep true to our payment plan adding up to $25,000 even though nothing extra had been done yet, just the new date. Trying to plan based on the new restrictions we asked if we could adjust the size of the wedding to adhere to the new guidelines set by the government. in 2021 we started getting flyers from Simply Elegant with pop-up wedding options and asked if we could do this instead for our wedding and adjust the numbers based on the health restrictions based on the final date of the wedding. Red Flag #4 - We were told that since we signed the contract, no adjustments to the size could be made and we would have to fulfill at least 90% of the original value. This could be done by way of having another event at the venue beyond what the new wedding format would be. It got to the point where we felt that we were being completely taken advantage of at this time and we ended up hiring a lawyer. Our lawyer provided us with a letter to send to Simply Elegant basically stating that we are owed our deposit based on the circumstances and that Simply Elegant was directly benefiting on the COVID situation and our deposit money. Simply Elegant refused this and said they hope we can still work something out. We are now waiting for a small claims date. Final Red Flag - Once we ended our conversations with Simply Elegant we were sent a letter stating the Skyline would cease to exist (within a month after they were still asking for our $22,000). They would form under a new name which is now the Waterfront Park. Knowing that they were going bankrupt on this business and now reopening under a new establish was more than infuriating. This company refused to work with us during COVID and tried to keep taking our money fully knowing that they were about to close their Skyline venue. We did end up getting Married this July with a much smaller number of 80 from the original 175. We would have gladly spent our money with Skyline if they had had some form of integrity. One of the worst experiences I have ever had working with a business.

Waterfront Park is the most beautiful venue in the City of Calgary. They literally went above and beyond for our wedding. Everything from helping reschedule due to covid and setting up our beautiful ceremony was perfect! We had crazy rain showers and were able to get into the pavilion and it was even more beautiful than I could have dreamed of. Peter was the most wonderful, thoughtful and amazing person and we feel very blessed to have had our wedding here. We both preferred this version of our wedding over the one we had planned pre-covid, and it’s because of the venue and the people that we had helping us along the way. This venue is honestly a dream, you need to book here!! You will NOT be disappointed. Peter and his team made our wedding day so special and we honestly couldn’t have been happier!

Gorgeous location and great spot for any event!

This place is possibly one of the most romantic, beautiful and serene venue in Calgary. When you're in there you can help but feel overwhelmingly calm and combine with perfect setting and decor it made every occasion unforgettable. And that's what we were looking for our Organization 3rd Anniversary celebration. We choose the tent venue in front of the lake, and it was perfect. We couldn't be any happier. Nothing can beat festive and nature, and I understand sometimes its hard to pulled a five stars experience outdoor, but not here! The venue that they have is amazing, parking was not an issue because they have large parking area, they have a lot amenities and its easy to get there as well. Overall it was a great experience we have at the Waterfront Park with Simply Elegant Corporation. Thank you!

I cannot recommend Waterfront Parks enough. Peter and Jade went well above and beyond, helping us plan a short notice wedding (we booked less than three months prior to the date in an effort to minimize covid related changes), navigating trying times, and providing unparalleled service. Jade is even pictures in our wedding photos adjusting my dress prior to walking down the isle, and Peter met us on the limo bus to help "hide" me from the guests prior to the service. They were like family throughout the process and I honestly don't think we would have pulled off the wedding of our dreams without them. The venue is stunning, location is ideal, the food was delicious (and catered to all sorts of weird dietary issues), and the decor was spot on. If you're thinking about booking waterfront parks with simply elegant, stop thinking and book it. You won't regret it!
