WM Schmidt Mechanical Contractors Ltd. is a full service HVAC/Plumbing contractor with the ability to design, install, repair and maintain any home heating or air conditioning system in Calgary and surrounding areas.

Founded in 1956
WM Schmidt Mechanical Contractors Ltd. was founded in 1956 by William Schmidt. Today, the Schmidt Family is still actively involved in the company; as well, some of today’s contributors have been with the company since its early days completing thousands of installations in Southern Alberta.

Today, we are proud to have served generations of Calgary families, heating the first, second and even the third generation’s homes. WM Schmidt has a staff of 90 that occupies 20,000 square feet at 4603 – 13 Street, NE, Calgary. We utilize 50 company trucks to install heating, air conditioning, plumbing, and radiant floor heating systems in Calgary. We are considered one of the largest independent combined mechanical shops in Western Canada. WM Schmidt was one of the first to achieve the coveted Alberta Occupational Health and Safety “Certificate of Recognition” (COR) in the residential mechanical industry.

Working Together
WM Schmidt has three active divisions: Water, Air, and Radiant. The water division includes all plumbing and hydronic heating, while the air division includes forced air heating, ventilation and air conditioning. These departments promote new products and services that can be designed and sold as a system. The key goal is to meet the special needs of customers for specialty products and upgrades. The departments work closely together to promote the energy conservation solutions that WM Schmidt has developed over the years.

R	Reid Laurence on Google ★ ★ ★ ★ ★ Bought a new home and WM Schmidt was the contracted plumber by the builder. On our very first day in the home, April 2016, we had a leak in the wall from doing laundry (laundry room on top level above kitchen) and it resulted in water coming through the drywall ceiling and leaking down our pantry door. It took 2 days for them to find the leak and fix. The problem? Plastic pipes joined together had NOT been glued. Now I needed to take days off work for the builder to send in trades people, including drywall, mud and taper, painter and texture ceiling person. It's now 9 months later and I have another leak in my kitchen ceiling, almost identical spot. The problem? Pipes joined together not glued properly. Hence, more days off work for trades people. I've also been waiting for WM Schmidt to upgrade my rainshower since October, 2016. Still not done. I've called at least 5 times and I kept getting excuses. I believe they kept forgetting to order the parts. The warranty service plumbers I've met from them were very good to deal with, apologetic and even said how embarrassing it was that this problem occurred. I wish the people who installed the plumbing the first time took pride in their work.

We were having issues with hot water supply at home. We told him our experiences and he was able to figured out what was the problem, right away! Service only took him less than half an hour. Very quick and neat service! ???⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ Booking an appointment is very easy. Stephanie was very accommodating and she booked us right away. ???⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐

The blower on the furnace went. Coincidentally I'd spoken to a service rep. at the company 4 weeks prior who told me to leave the fan on 24/7 for better air circulation in the basement. We are a 3 time repeat customer. They referred us to someone else, who couldn't do the work and in turn referred us. I requested a call back from WM and surprise, heard nothing back from them. Had to find someone on my own. December and no furnace and no help. Great customer service. I would not use or recommend this company. They went all out to get our business but no effort or follow-up after the fact. Sorry 0 stars is not an option!

I was told they would be working on the outside of my business during the morning to fix our heating system. When the day arrives, they frantically text and call my business complaining that no one is there to let them inside. It would have been a simple process to call the day before to let us know but they chose not to. After I arrive and unlock my doors for them, I am told that they will 'eventually' come inside. What was the rush? They spent most of the day on the outside on the roof anyway. I'm then told there will be an awful smell through our air ducts but it should dissipate within the hour. Four hours later the smell is still here and I have upset customers from the stench. Their workers are invasive and don't care about your time. There are plenty of great contacters in the city, unfortunately this is not one of them.
B	Balpreet Saini on Google ★ ★ ★ ★ ★ Had to use this company for warranty repairs for a new home. My first encounter was not too bad, the person was on time, and professional. I was told my issue was not warranty related, but rather an option that was missing in the house. He provided me with a quote to perform the upgrade, however, was significantly overpriced compared to other quotes that I had gotten. This is no reason to provide a bad review, but I am glad I did not go with them to perform the upgrade as the customer service level just dropped the next two encounters. My second encounter dealt with warranty issues. The plumber that came out was not friendly and kept blaming other trades for some of the issues. It would have not been a problem and I would have asked the builder to call those other trade, but what did bother me about it was his rude attitude. During this same visit, there was an issue with the sink, clearly a manufacturer's defect, but he seemed unwilling to assist and even said "you can barely see it". The third encounter was for a booking that was done nearly 3 weeks ago. A week before the appointment they had called and requested the time be changed. I agreed. 30 minutes past the 1 hour window that they provided me and no one showed up. I tried calling and no one was answering my calls. Waited another 5 to 10 minutes and called them again, finally got through to some one who was like "I was just about to call you to tell you the tech is running late and won't be out for another hour". Is this something that could have not been relayed to me an hour and half ago when my one hour window started? There was little to no understanding when I tried to express my frustration with the person on the phone. Customer service from this company is extremely poor and I would not recommend them. They are not reliable, don't stand by their work or products and blame other trades, and are overpriced if you do want to use their services.

He said he’d have a tech out to my house shortly and advised me on the warranty status of my furnace. After that call, he called me back to walk me through the issue with my furnace himself. He educated me on how my Coleman unit works, and didn’t rush me at all. A gem of a guy, and my new go-to furnace company.

Installing a single stage furnace on a zoning system in 2020 and using a blower speed wire that says specifically not to use with heating to compensate for the overheating that happens when only one zone is open. This will result in extremely high duct pressures that the blower is not capable of sue to the restricted duct design. Don't recommend this company at all.
