If you are someone seriously considering becoming a makeup artist as a true profession, this is exactly where you need to be! On the other hand if you were like myself and had been in the field some years and attended makeup school elsewhere, but really want to elevate yourself, again this is the place to be! To start off, the staff's email response time to any inquiry's is very fast. The staff are extremely professional and also very attentive and helpful. I was lucky enough to have direct training from Vanessa. She immediately makes you feel very comfortable. The studio environment is great with plenty of room and perfect lighting. It's hard not to feel intimidated at first when you know the amazing artist Vanessa is, but again she brings the environment to a personal level which is critical so you can let go of any inhibitions and truly immerse yourself into learning. All lesson plans are clearly laid out for the day. Everything is organized from beginning to end. Any and all questions are encouraged and answered. The techniques are taught and explained in a perfect pace, so that you can grasp what you are learning and not feel overwhelmed. Notebooks are given with a written step by step process of techniques and coloring. This is vital as there is so much information taken in, you can always go back to it for reference. I think one of the best things is that Vanessa also makes it a fun day! Mood is always very light and at times comical. It felt like I was learning the most amazing makeup lesson from a great friend. I live in Scottsdale, Arizona and I have traveled all over to take workshops/classes. VMMA is hands down the best place I have ever attended. I definitely felt a vast improvement on my work/skills after attending VMMA and I would go no where else!

If you are thinking of taking professional makeup artistry courses in Vancouver, i can't recommend a better school than VMMA. Vanessa is one of the best makeup artist her teaching is excellent, and also she is very good at making her students feel comfortable while they learn.
