Bunch of sociopaths. I'd advise anyone not to move here, lest they too lose their home. Give the man his house back!

I am completely impressed with the village of Ryley. It is a little town with a big heart. So many people there really care about the community and it shows.

Riley administration/councillors have sunk to the bottom of the barrel for making that gentleman sell his house because of a painting bill he did not ask for! SHAME, DOUBLE SHAME

The Councillors must be REAL scumbags to paint someones house without their permission ! Forcing a pensioner to sell his house? Avoid at all costs.

charging an 86 year old man a total of 4200.00 dollars because his house needed painting and his lawn was overgrown....because he got hurt while scraping the old paint off his house. Making an old man sell his home in order to afford the fines he was given. He is 86 years old. Shame on you, Ryley. Utter and complete SHAME on you.

I just read a story of an old man, 86 yrs, who couldn't scrap the paint off of his housae and paint it fast enough for the town and it's by-law officer! They slapped him with fines that ran up to $4,000 to paint his house, and cut his grass for him. no one there would help him, no one ther sttod up for him, and he eventually had to sell his house ro pay the debt THEY forced upon him! I would urge ANYONE , to NEVER, ever MOVE to RILEY! There will be noone who will be there for you if you need help. No one will lift a finger to help you even if you are decrepid and incapable of doing what the town demands! A shameful place to have in ALBERTA of all places! Neighbors should help each other and be close to each other, that is something this place lacks! I can't even imagine how local schools would be for new kids!

I visited my daughter in ryley last year. The village is quaint and small. Very tidy. I was present for "ryley days"and found the celebration quite enjoyable despite the small stature of the event. Lots of kids and great weather. I considered moving to ryley. In retrospect, however, i realised it would be to be near my daughter and grandkids for support and less because i have an affinity for the actual town. Although the kids are completely delightful and the scenic small townness is sentimental, the adult residents leave something to be desired. There is very little "neighborly" feelings in this town. Its very "clique-y." I was a stranger visiting and could literally feel the judgement and see the scrutiny on peoples faces. The long term residents and elderly were villagers who care but there arent too many left. My daughter is going through some hardships with her 2 small children and instead of coming together to be supportive and offer knowledge, she is ostacised and judged and opportunities are snatched away from her. Not very village like behaviour if you ask me. So, if youre looking for pucturesque and snobby, Ryley is the place to be.

Lived in Ryley for almost 5 years now and Love it here! Excellent community to raise a family in. We work together as a community when the need arises and people speak up and request help. The lies that have been spread about our community are ridiculous. This small town has some awesome amenities that include a high school, a library, post office and even an indoor pool facility! Couldn't ask for a better place to raise my family.
