UVIC is a monopoly for food options on campus. The food tastes bad, is not competitively priced, and service is always too slow. The annual parking pass is un-affordable. UVIC has some serious problems as this list could continue.

UVic does not believe that the immunocompromised/ Chronically ill/ disabled are worthy of an education. I have had to put my degree on hold because they refuse to let me work safely online, telling me that I must come to in person classes even if every doctor in the world tells me that I should not attend because I am clinically extremely vlaunerable to catching covid and dying. Disgusting.

Brought the wife for her 1st covid shot. They are spacing it out from 4 weeks to 4 months for the 2nd shot... I have a sketchy feeling about that decision & fear this fall might be bad news bears but that isn't UVIC's fault. I kinda miss going to UVIC but I miss the rabbits more. ??

Large, spread-out campus with ample greenery.

(This is a review about admissions since I have not been here yet) I applied for a visual arts undergraduate program near the end of the application deadline (which was partially my mistake) and as part of the application process, you needed to send in a portfolio of your work using a separate link. Seems simple enough right? Well the problem is you only get that certain link through the introductory email, which you get a few days after sending in your main application. Well I got my introductory email that instructed me to send in my portfolio a few days into February, and the portfolio was due on january 31st, the same day as the main application. I tried to send my portfolio in anyways but the form was now closed, which rendered me unable to send it in. I proceeded with the rest of my application process such as self reporting grades and sending in progress transcripts and tried to contact my admissions assistant regarding this problem to ask for another means to send in my portfolio, but my admissions advisor was unhelpful and did not reply in a timely matter. In fact, to this day i have not received an answer. To nobody's surprise, I wasn't accepted to my program of choice because of the missing portfolio even though this was through no fault of my own so I basically just threw away 140$ of my application fee and I feel like I was copped out because my grade 12 marks are an A average and I have plenty of references and works to show for my visual arts talents. At the very least, i was offered acceptance to my second program with my grades I understand why application deadlines are there but UVIC should allow for an extra week after the main application deadline to give potential visual arts students who apply near the end of the deadline a chance to submit their portfolios, knowing that it takes a few days for the introductory email to be sent, or at the very least disclose within the application page that there is a risk that you may not receive the means to send this portfolio in time if you apply near the end of the deadline

Unique university, with staff willing to go above and beyond what was needed. The tour of the campus was outstanding. The student employees and volunteers were great. I suggest going to their site and booking a tour. Maps of the campus are available online.

This is just a review of the overall look and feel of the campus, and not the interiors of any specific department, but I'm sure it's all good. Upon arrival, I felt a sense of longing and belonging. This is truly a very beautiful university campus. I parked my car at one end of the campus just so that I could walk all the way to the other end to do some printing. Beautiful campus, beautiful people and a beautiful day in which everything is centrally located in and around the ring road. The overall vibe of the campus is open and fresh. Bus depot is conveniently located near the main road leading into the university. It doesn't take long for one to walk across the campus from one end to the other, and the signs have been put up to indicate where you will find what building. Library has been renovated obviously and it is much larger and spacious than when I was a student there. I know that the university has over the years gone through renovations, but this is a very open, calm and yet large university with a sense of community and learning.
