Support, education and acceptance. For over 30 years Turning Point Society has been responding to the health needs of Central Alberta communities using a harm reduction approach.
About Turning Point Society: Harm Reduction in Central Alberta
Turning Point is in charge of operating Central Alberta’s temporary Overdose Prevention Site (OPS), a hygienic space where individuals can orally consume, snort or inject pre-obtained drugs in a hygienic environment under the supervision of trained staff. The site also offers staff low threshold access to basic health care and harm reduction education, as well as referrals to Turning Point’s programs and community health and social services.
The OPS was initially set up on October 1, 2018, as a temporary health service intended to quickly respond to Red Deer’s increased overdose fatalities. The site has since had a total of 116,358 visits and 3,553 overdoses reversed in its first three years of operation (October 1, 2018 – October 1, 2021) with zero on-site fatalities.

Without places like this I believe their would be here rates in both overdoses and crime. So I recommend if it's information, naloxone training or even just to see what it's All about. Stop by and ask someone in the office

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ The turning point is a place where homeless and housed where you can receive multiple resources. The staff there for the most part 90% of the staff are truly awesome people. They are very open minded and kind. They do there very best to try to have understanding as well as give life skills to the less informed persons. I recommend using the Turning Points resources if one needs help of any kind.

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ My sons life was recently saved by the staff down at Turning Point. They were quick to give shots of narcan and rescue breaths until my son started breathing. I'm grateful for everything they did after his accidental over dose on drugs he had never tried before. They sent him in a cab with extra narcan and a note explaining what had occurred. Thank you Reed & other workers for saving his life!
