Whether or not you find this place acceptable will depend on what style of camping you prefer and your expectations of maintenance and cleanliness. If you are accustomed to the standard of maintenance and cleanliness at a provincial camp site, you will likely find this campsite does not meet your standards. If you like the experience of camping in nature and not feeling as if you are camping in a congested parking lot with shrubs, bushes and a few trees, you will probably find this place undesirable. Great location; however, I found it too congested, noisy, unacceptable standard of cleanliness, and lacking proper maintenance. It is unfortunate that there are not more affordable campsites on Hornby providing this place a little competition and incentive to improve.

Careful of getting stuff stolen by local youths. I've been to the Tribune Bay Campsite each year for 5 a few years now and this was the first time things got stolen from our campsite. PROS: -Excellent location to Big Trib Beach, the co-op, coffee shop etc. CONS: - This last trip in June, we were staying at campsite 47 and had a cooler full of drinks, a speaker, and some other personal belongings stolen. The site we were at was in the corner backed onto an open field where we believe the people came into the site from so be careful if you're in that area. Our neighbours had their cooler and food stolen as well. So the signs that say "Stow your coolers at night" don't seem to be for animals but rather the people that come and raid the campsite. The front desk knew about these raids but other than the vague signs only other locals know about it happening. So just a word of caution to be careful and put everything away at night. The campsite should caution guests of possible robberies as well if they are happening so often. -Outhouses only -It can get loud at night with some campers talking late at night so bring earplugs

Want a refugee camp experience where no one enforces quiet hours and you can see all your neighbours? Want pit-toilets and pay-showers? Clearly some families like this place but it strikes me this campsite profiteers off campers who don't know where else to go.

There are definitely pros and cons about Tribune Bay Campsite. If your expecting a Provincial Park campsite experience, sorry it not happening. Some sites are big some sites are not, some are close to your neighbours, some are better but at the end of the day, location is the best, Big Tribune Beach is awesome for the whole family. Walking distance to the beach, grocery store (co-op), liquor store and hardware store is all in one and is next to the campground. Take advantage of the whole island, Helliwell Provincial Park, Whaling Station Beach, Sandpiper Beach to name a few is a must. Mt Geoffrey Regional Park is awesome if your into mountain biking, Phrog distillery is delicious if your a gin sipper, weekend market is a must for their popcorn, frozen banana and of course their local art. There’s lots of exploring to do, crabs to catch in the tide pools, hiking, birding, or just lounging around if that’s your thing. Campsite is also next to a small golf course and Crabbing is a great way to spend time with the kids.(No hand picking this year due to the heat wave) My family and I came from the lower mainland, we’ve been twice and will continue to return year after year. 3 ferries usually take a whole day, depending when you travel. The noise level both years we’ve been camping have been at a minimal, loud voices, car alarms at most. Nothing outta the norm. We stayed for 10 nights, my wife and our 2 and 6 year olds. It was such an awesome time, can’t wait to go back. Ps. The outhouses do stink because of obvious reasons but it’s camping. Sometimes people fill the outhouses will potpourri but to tell you the truth, I’d rather have the original odour in the morning!

we love camping here. if your looking into a provincial site type of camping this ain’t it. but it had it’s own flavour to it. Unfortunately our cooler got stollen on our first night, but got it back as the youths who stole it got caught. Definitely stowed it out tent after that. access to beach is killer.

Hornby Island is amazing! Beach is fantastic, this campground is very ok. Very loud even tho they have high "fines" if you break the rules. Around midnight people still had their music loud or making loud noises. The sites are tiny and not private at all. I mean if you only care about the beach and don't care about the camping site at all this is fine.

Thank you so much for an amazing visit! The kids had an absolute blast and we made lots of fun memories. The campsite is really well cared for and staff were ready to help with any problems or questions. The family-friendly vibe was delightful and the location between the beach and the co-op store made for a stress-fee camping experience. The sites are very close together and there were lots of families, so it was definitely bustling, but we found all the other campers to be chill and considerate, and the quiet hours were respected. The bay at low tide on a sunny day is a slice of paradise. As an Aussie I didn't find the water warm, but it was crystal clear and refreshing on the hot days. The sand was soft and clean. If you wanted to be deep in nature and away from people, this might not be the right place for you but it was perfect for us with 2 small, busy, curious kids. We really look forward to coming back as soon as we can.
