About Trenville Community Hall

Built in 1905, the lumber used to build the Trenville school was milled from trees cut upstream on the Red Deer River. The logs were then floated downriver to where the Trenville Campground is located now and hauled by teams of horses to the original building site north of the existing grounds.

As time went on the population of the Trenville community became more situated to the south. This meant students living south of the school had to travel farther than students living north of the school. Recognizing this, the community agreed to move the school to its current location. The school was moved using teams of horses from the community.

The community has a history of coming together to maintain and improve the hall. In the early years, it was decided that the school needed a new piano, so $10 dollars was collected from each family. This piano is still in the hall and is used during the annual Christmas Concert.

In 1958 the school was closed and the building was donated to the community for use as a community hall.

In 1975 the interior of the hall was renovated. This renovation included installing wood paneling and adding the kitchen area to the front of the building. The community received a $2000 grant from the county to build the addition.

In the early 2000s, the exterior of the hall was renovated, replacing the old wood siding with the existing stucco and tin roof.

2005 marked the 100th anniversary of the Trenville Community, and a large celebration was held at the hall. Former students gathered from far and wide for group photos and history displays were presented. The community also put on a parade.

2018 marked another interior renovation, this renovation focused on re-insulating the hall and restoring it to a style reminiscent of when it was a school. The renovation included new hardwood floors installed in the main hall and refinishing the existing floor on the stage and in the kitchen. The original tongue and groove pine on the walls was also restored, and new electrical and lighting was installed.
