Winter Tires’ Special Rubber Compound & Flexible Tread
The biggest difference between all season tires and winter tires, is that winter tires are created with a special rubber compound that is designed to stay flexible in cold temperatures, which keeps the tire in contact with the road giving you better traction in wintery conditions. All season tires don’t have this compound, so when temperatures go below 7°C all season tires become hard and rigid and can lose traction with the road. Winter tires are highly recommended for anyone driving in cold weather conditions.
Designed with Sipes
Another difference between winter and all season tires is the sipes. Sipes are small slits in tires that push snow and water away from the tire. Winter tires have larger and deeper sipes to move water and snow faster, helping with acceleration as well as reduce braking distances on wet, snow covered and slippery roads.
Look for the Snowflake Symbol
In order to know if your tires are winter certified, look for the snowflake emblem on the side of your tire. Created by the Rubber Association of Canada and the Rubber Manufacturers’ Association, this stamp validates that the tire meets the specific snow traction requirements and is approved to drive in snow and icy conditions.

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ Is tried Trail Tire on 116 st nw during the first snow storm this year. They suggested a tire that I had seen online. They ordered them while I went home for two hours. I showed up when they said to and an hour later I left with new tires on and balanced. The experience was excellent. Easiest experience ever with tires. Price was also below what I had found online with other edmonton locations.

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ Ive dealt with the Tire Warehouse twice now. Both times my vehicle was brought to the shop out of commission and fixed the same day. There pricing was fair and Tony the manager seems like a very honest and upfront guy to deal with. I wouldn't hesitate to recommend this shop to anyone whether it be for tires or mechanical work.

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ I have been bringing my cars to this business for the past 14 years after a friend told me about them. Last November, Tony & Vikas had installed new all-weather tires on my current car quick and within my budget. I was extremely happy with their service and that of the shop team as well. Earlier that day, I had another shop (because I was passing through Sherwood Park) check my block heater and they diagnosed it as being shot. Their estimate was a little over $500 to replace (I declined). I mentioned this to Tony while I was waiting for the tires, he said it usually is a damaged power cord not the block heater itself...costs a little under $100 to replace (with labour). They checked it out while my car was in the bay and sure enough, the block heater was fine after the cord was replaced. Thank you guys so much for saving me money (& the additional time for an unnecessary block heater replacement). Great advice and quality work!! Bruce

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ During the COVID pandemic I was at TRAIL TIRE 10550 116 Street location to have a tire fixed in March 2020. At this time they also quoted me on work that needed to be completed for an issue I was having with my vehicle, and I had to pay for the mechanic to inspect my car on this day. I returned to this location in April 2020 and at that time purchased a tire and had the 'recommended' work completed for a total cost of $710. The same day I immediately noticed the same noise coming from the vehicle and called Tony (manager). Tony was apologetic and had the vehicle looked at the following day. He later told me" yes its some problem only a dealership can complete.' I had told Tony that I had been charged for $400 in work that was not necessary and that the initial problem was still present. Tony told me " well today there was no charge for looking at your vehicle'. Yes, this location has been professional with any work done for Tires but I have been disappointed since and will not return nor will I continue to refer them to other customers as we supported them locally as well am now out over $400 for work that was not necessary and still have a vehicle with the same problem.
