About Tillebrook Provincial Park - Campground A

There are no laws prohibiting the use of metal detectors in the public areas of provincial parks as long as the activity isn’t interfering with the enjoyment of the other park visitors, breaking any of our other regulations, or in any way threatening any of the wildlife in the park.

Metal detectors can be used in the province’s parks, provided that:

  • They are only used on beaches and similar disturbed areas (where digging will not affect the natural ecosystem/habitat). In disturbed areas that are being excavated under a research permit, these areas are closed-off from the public to prevent recreational digging
  • No historic resources are damaged or removed
  • No items are removed from the park
  • All items of value (historical or monetary) are turned over to the local park office
  • They are used for recreation and not for commercial purposes
  • Their use doesn’t violate other laws, such as interfering with a person’s quiet enjoyment in the park. People operating metal detectors are encouraged to use an earpiece/headphones to reduce the likelihood of the noise disturbing others.

As in the case of other park users, a person can expect to encounter officers who will inquire about the activities being conducted and require them to identify themselves and their occupation.

In order to dig for historical resources, a person requires an excavation permit issued by the Parks Division under the Historical Resources Act; this permit is associated with archeological or paleontological research permit. In some locations the excavated items are likely to remain in the park for research and storage; in situations where an excavated item is to be removed from the park, a collection permit is required.

overall campground itself was good, well maintained showers and bathrooms are nice. My problem was the 2 people who I assume watch over the place. my wife had went into brooks to grab food for the night when coming in the campground did no more than 30km. she pulls into our site and the couple speeds up behind her, the man jumps out first and asks if there is and emergency we where all confused thinking he has the wrong site but we would have helped him find the emergency. most people would have said politely that they thought that she was going a little to fast not speed up to our site and confuse us. I would also like to mention at this time there are no posted speed limits any where in the campground. At this point the wife gets out and walks up to our site as well not necessary at all since the husband had already talked to us, my dog walked up slowly tail waging just to greet her she freaks out yelling get the dog get the dog. not only was it unnecessary that she get out of the truck if she had a problem with dogs she should not be working in a campground where id bet a lot of people bring there dogs. I think that the province should send the people running this campground to a course on how to approach campers as to not escalate a situation. we where out for the weekend duck hunting and basically that is the only campground close to our hunting spot if there where any other i would most likely stay there.

One of our favorite camping spots, it's close to the city of Brooks should you need anything. Sites are paved and lots of them are drive through which making setting up a breeze. Each circle has a huge greenspace in the middle where children can play. The Historical Brooks Aqueduct is just down the road. Showers are free.

First time when we came we smelt an awful smell from the cows when was soo windy. ?? Later was problem because we had a few trees and we hadn't shadow in a really hot days +30... Also I was disappointed that we hadn't beach and we must ride to another campground almost 16 minutes drive in a one way.I saw that people wrote reviews with a beach from this place... The best things were prairie dogs which live there and you can see a lots of them. My kids wanted to take one to home. ? Anyway there is a nice staff and good place for relax but before booking check your spot that you have more trees there. ?

Cute little campground. Very well groomed. Sites are quite close together. We saw a large black/red gartner snake when my son and I were going to use the washroom in our loop. Freaked me out as it was just on the lawn, not in any high grass at all. Aside from that experience, it was alright. I'm used to camping where there are more trees and privacy between the sites. My daughter did enjoy scootering around the property. Super close to Brooks if you forget anything!

Beautifully treed campground. We used a pull through site which was big enough to accommodate three slides. Although there was only 30amp power the fill station was clean and roomy. Various locations available for drinking water and clean bathrooms.

Stayed here with my family this weekend, it was my first time staying @this campsite and I was pretty excited, amenities @the centre of each campsite (pit fall) and one main hot shower/restroom on the main road pretty standard for everything, not many bugs but still need bug spray and plenty of gophers running around. Overall site wise it was great but what made the experience so horrible is the camping neighbours. On one side we had a racist family that’s threw rocks at our car and tent at night for not doing anything to them and never even spoken a word towards them ?on the other side a 40+person group that were super loud even way past quite time probably till 1-2am quite time is standard@11 I was just surprised they never got caught lol probably won’t come back but this review is 80% base on my experience and 20% on the site I do recommend people coming just wish you didn’t get so lucky as myself and my family

Nice park that has nicely treed sites. Very convenient base for exploring Dinosaur and Kinbrook Island PP's. May long weekend and there were no bugs here at all while Kinbrook Island had A TON!
