Melissa Derksen is an Early Childhood Educator who has lived in Pincher Creek, AB since the summer of 2020, and previously lived in Three Hills from 2017-2020 while her husband, Kevin, attended Prairie College and she worked at the Three Hills Playschool. Melissa and Kevin have been married for 14 years and have three energetic girls, aged 8, 10, and 12. She has been around the world and back, serving in schools and churches through the arts and education. She has traveled to Nicaragua, Northern Ireland, Costa Rica, Quebec, India, England, Kenya, and even lived in Papua New Guinea. Over the years she has worn many hats and gained much experience working as a nanny, in various preschool and daycare rolls, as an educational assistant (including internationally), as well as homeschooling, swim instructing and at a senior's care home. Her favorite things to do include watercolor painting, dancing, gardening and being outside on hikes and walks with her family and friends. Melissa is thrilled to return to teaching at Three Hills Playschool and to continue to pour into the community and inspire wonder-led, hands-on learning with young children.
