A	Ana Ana on Google ★ ★ ★ ★ ★ The only good thing about this school is that they have french immersion. They took advantages of this to bring more kids in school but they did not change the quality of teaching. Still the Thornlea PS is the last school in ratings on Fraser Institute site for Thornhill area, and it is quite true, but not because of kids, be sure. To add to that, teachers keep the marks down compared with other schools in Thornhill. The school, in other words the principal, the teachers have to ask themself, "why school is last in ranking in Thornhill"? Don't blame the statistics! And don't blame that the statistic is based on family's salaries! Your school needs to revise the current way of teaching, the way this school gives marks (unfair in many cases), don't mislead parents or kids, don't minimize the kids potential, open your eyes and see the real value of kids, do not come to school just to take your salaries. Go home teachers but be aware that some of you did hurt kids, did cut their desire to be challanged; is that the role of Thornlea PS in this community? If yes, then yes you have to be 1st in ranking.
S	S Sal on Google ★ ★ ★ ★ ★ Mr. Burman. Mr. Capilongo. Mr. Mccutcheon(sp?) And Mr. Robertson changed my life. I am now 32 years old. I would have been in jail or dead had they not literally saved my life. I owe so much to these angels. I know Mr. Robertson is no longer there. However these teachers are not only teachers they cares about me. They made me want to come to school. I was a troubled kid. They fixed me. I'm forever thankful and I still keep in touch because they saved my life. God bless you and thank you. I will never forget you. Neither will my family. Thank you.

K	Kimeiko Hotta Dover on Google ★ ★ ★ ★ ★ We found that Thornlea prepared our oldest child well for his first year in a competitive university program with a merit scholarship so we are satisfied with its academic standards. At the same time, Thornlea has many courses and opportunities for kids who prefer hands-on, creative activities. Thornlea is relatively small by high school standards so class sizes are reasonable, teachers and students get to know each other well and kids are well-supported. The reason I am giving Thornlea 4 stars rather than 5 is that because of its size, the classes kids want are not always available. However, guidance does its best to accommodate. For example, when my son couldn't fit grade 11 law into his timetable, he was offered grade 12 law which he was eligible to take because he had the prereq grade 11 English. So far we have had 2 children attend Thornlea and we will not hesitate to send our 3rd child, too.

There's deca, French Immersion, the AP program, one of the best drama stages in the region with thousands of dollars worth of gear, ACAM and tons of clubs you can join (pretty much always something going on). The school is very well located (near a plaza, great fit hanging out or buying lunch or a quick snack) and there aren't separate lunch periods. The staff is nice. Definitely would recommend
F	Farbod - on Google ★ ★ ★ ★ ★ Ms. Niknaz is very friendly and helpful in the Friday evening Farsi Language Classes. At the first day of program I saw that it was a chaos but then she came and organized almost everything. She is a real manager! Mrs Mirarefi is also a very kind teacher that children love her. There are several nice volunteers working to organize the classes at this evening program.Thanks!
