A bit of a messy job for sure (due to our 100+ year old semi being on a small downtown Toronto street, with only street parking) but so worth it. The Underpinners are problem solvers: as I wanted to save our old lilac tree, they arranged for a smaller bin and worked around it, giving them less than an ideal work environment... but the lilacs were just beginning to bloom when their work was done! Additionally, with Covid-19 lock down emergency measures in place, we anticipated our job's start date to be pushed back to some vague date in the future. Daniel did his homework: since we had our permits approved and ready to go, we moved ahead in a safe manner for both us + his staff. Based on my experience, the work they completed and the challenges they faced, I completely recommend The Underpinnners Inc.! We are very pleased with the new underpinned space and are in the midst of currently finishing it. Thanks Daniel, et al.

Thankfully we had the guys from the Underpinners doing the work. With the high level of uncertainty and concern being felt across the country, Daniel and his team were committed to our project and took exceptional efforts to keep, not only themselves safe and healthy, but my family as well, while keeping city inspectors regularly up to date on our project's progress. Every contractor who worked the interior afterwards complimented the high quality of underpinning work. Staff were polite and pleasant to talk to. They are always happy and patient answering my questions and providing good recommendations. The underpinning is a a big project, but it was a breeze for me. Definitely recommend and happy to hire them again!
T	Tye Sprules on Google ★ ★ ★ ★ ★ What can I say...the Underpinners were superb. Cost-effective, prompt, quick and tidy, punctual, extremely friendly, the list goes on. They underpinned our entire basement (a semi-detached) including an awkward crawl space, giving us 8' ceilings throughout (even a bit more). I had some anxiety about how the project would go, given some quirks in our basement from previous work, and every concern I raised was answered with "not a problem, we can do this or this...we'll take care of it". Nothing stressed them out. They had reasonable suggestions for every issue, and instead of pushing the challenges off and making them my issue (as I often encounter in my other work as a contractor), they simply tackled them and resolved them on their own, even rarely charging me for it. They have a solid network of support-trades that performed the various areas outside of the concrete work (from engineers to plumbers), all of whom were as reliable as they were. The whole process was so smooth, I kick myself for not having done it sooner. Daniel and Stephen and their whole crew were a pleasure to work with and have around, and I can't recommend them highly enough.

Daniel was recommended to us several years ago by neighbours who had their basement underpinned and spoke highly of Daniel as a person and of his work. I have known Daniel for several years now, and have consulted him on various projects. Finally, last fall I decided to underpin my basement to create a tenant apartment. We dug down about 2 feet and did a walk out. Throughout the process of advising me, putting together a quote, organizing the work, keeping everything clean, dealing with neighbors, Daniel and his team were extremely helpful, professional, kind, and organized. While the cost of a project like this can be a lot, I trusted Daniel to price his work fairly, and his costs are competitive with other companies we got quotes from. The job was well done and on time. Simply put, The Underpinners are the best in the business. Daniel is the guy they call when other underpinning companies have problems.
