Came to this place on a Friday night ( march 16th 2018) at 8:38pm in the evening and the waitres said the place is closed... the reason we got told they were sooo busy in the day... this is absolutely like a joke... after couple minutes I saw a couple inside were placing their order. Get a new management...

The Surfside Grill has the street level feeling, with the out-side patio in the summer. This patio is comfortable with a nice view and is close to all the action on the popular Marine Drive. Oysters are available but only the East Coast Oysters for certain reasons. Surfside is mostly closed in the winter months. The Boathouse Restaurant upstairs, is the same restaurant, with a different name. Thanks ....

I was very disappointed and rather astonished by the lack of service provided here. I have never had such poor service at a food establishment as I have had here. Upon entering, we were asked to seat ourselves. Not a big deal. as it allowed us to choose where we would like to sit. However, after being seated, it was another ten minutes before we were brought menus or asked about drinks. Our server, Breanna, took our order, and brought the food out in a reasonable time frame. It was the last we saw of her until we were finished our meal. No offers on refilling our drinks (at $3.99 each for iced tea). No refill on iced tea, no refill on water. When the food came, it was mediocre for the price. We both ordered the Northwest Seafood Pasta ($27.99 each) The prawns were overcooked, and I had a 2 inch long piece of burnt skewer in my pasta. During the time we ate, we were never asked how the food was, if we needed anything, or offered refills. When I say the lack of service, I mean it was non-existent. (During this time, both the tables to each side of us received service no less than five times each by the same server we had. Upon paying for the bill ($67.16) I decided to not leave a tip, as I expect some form of service to show we are appreciated as customers. When our server, Breanna, noticed there was no tip, she asked us if the food was okay. When I explained that the prawns were overcooked, there was a burnt skewer tip in my pasta, and we were not offered refills, not only was there no attempt to rectify the situation, she actually claimed she had asked us how the food was. (She did not- we would have at the very least requested refills at that time) Upon leaving, she had taken it upon herself to make a remark to another waitress about our decision not to tip. We will not be returning to this establishment. For anyone reading this review, if you are looking for a good sea-side establishment with exceptional food, exemplary service, and extremely fair pricing, I recommend taking your hard earned money to the Washington Ave Grill just up the street.

After spending a lovely afternoon in white rock , My boyfriend and i decided we would stop in at the Surfside grill for lunch. We walked in and we're asked to seat our selves ( not an issue as you get to choose!) after we had sat down we waited about 10 minutes before we were given water and then had to wait another 10 minutes to be given menus. After we finally placed our order things started to look up as the food came out very quickly , however that was the last we saw of our waitress until we were DONE eating , , Not even a refill on our waters or ice tea's. My partner had a burnt skewer in his pasta and the shrimp was over cooked. when we finally saw our server again it was to ask for the bill. As we waited another 15ish minutes for her to bring the machine we decided we were not going to leave a tip as we received very poor service, not once we're we asked how the food was or if she could get us anything else . Once we handed her back the debit machine she looked at us and said " was the food not okay?' to which we replied 'it was alright, the shrimp was over cooked , there was a large piece of skewer in the pasta and we were not given proper service' . She was very unhappy with our answer and continuously told us she had checked in with us while we were eating , which was simply not the case. As we were leaving she took it upon her self to gossip to another waitress about us in front of others in the restaurant . Terrible experience and we will not be going back!

My fiance and I were vacationing in White Rock visiting my mother and growing up there, I've always loved Marine Dr. so I wanted to give my fiance the ultimate White Rock experience. I took him for lunch at Surfside Grill. Upon entering, your hostess was gossiping with a server and barely acknowledged our existence. The rest of the servers were hanging out at the bar with the bar tenders chatting. My Fiance has managed night clubs, restaurants and bars his entire adult life and this was a huge turn off for him and for me as I am a marketing manager and presentation of a restaurant is everything in running one.Staff should always be aware of this. We were seated at a dirty table when there were at least five clean ones to sit us at. The Hostess didn't even acknowledge it was dirty and left us there. The server came and I had to ask for the table to be cleaned as she just threw down two menus. She then only wiped up the space in front of me and my fiance, not the entire table. A dirty knife was left on the ground and stepped over and walked around by multiple staff at least 7 times until they noticed I took a picture of it, which I attached to this review. The food came out fast, that was the only good thing to say so we could eat and get out of there. The cooks must be fairly decent. The food was good. I had the coconut shrimp and my fiance had the spicy chicken sandwich. Props to the cooks. However, we will NEVER return. The cleanliness was lacking, the staff presentation of the restaurant was disgraceful. Where did work ethic go? If I owned that place, everyone but the cooks would be FIRED. Disgusted with the service. Sad because for the prices we pay, you would think your expectation of staff would be higher. My advice to owners, fire everyone and hire people that value customer service, and treat people the way they want to be treated. PS - I purposely left a piece of coleslaw on the side of the table, when we walked by after we left, the table had been cleaned but the coleslaw was still there. Man, that''s embarrassing for the owners. Management obviously needs to change.
